Stayed recently. Listing advantages and disadvantages of the hotel. Advantage- 1. of course it's peaceful environment and location in woods. 2. Adequate space for children to play and lots of plants present making it very dear and near to nature. 3. Clean and well maintained dining hall and cutlery. 4. Light food Disadvantages - 1. first of all owner needs to be honest because the photos of the cottage shared were too old. Presently it does not match at all. It is actually very old and not maintained properly. 2. Tiles of the bathroom are broken, curtains are dirty. 3. No room cleaning service available unless you call for them. 4. No wifi. 5. Dining staffs do not respond properly. They just gave the meal and disappeared. Moreover, First day they served only 2 pieces of chicken dinner when asked for chicken curry they prominently became annoyed and served just one piece more. It's entirety unacceptable. 6. Overall their behaviour is such that they are making us grateful to allow us there to stay. 7. Despite of the high price 1600-1800 per day per head (when other homestays take maximum 1400), received very poor service. 8. Printed chart for meals available but they don't make the evening snacks as per the chart. Evening snacks is not good at all. 9. Insufficient light inside the room and odourous ( swampy and stuffy smell) 10. Dustbins are not emptied. Stayed three nights but they didn't clean the dustbins once both outside the room and inside the room. 11. Stayed at different off beat places of North bengal such as pedong, jhalong- bindu, lamahatta, tinchuley, gopaldhara and dhotrey. Everywhere received very welcoming gesture of the locals and good behaviour of the owners. But this time that good feeling just became bitter.

Stayed for 2 days in the Deluxe Cottage (A1) at ₹1,800/day including meals (plus a ₹300 discount). Since Google doesn’t allow half-star ratings, I’m giving 4 stars, though my actual experience was closer to 3.5/5. What I Liked * Peaceful location in Upper Sittong with beautiful surroundings and a chance to view Kanchenjunga on clear days. * Manager Vivek was helpful and tried to accommodate guest requests. * Local market is within walking distance. * Clean bathroom with geyser. * Darjeeling tea and the freshly prepared Maggi were excellent. Areas That Need Improvement * Service for additional food orders was very slow, sometimes taking nearly an hour. * No food orders were accepted after 8 PM, which was not communicated before booking. * Food quality was below average for my taste. Apart from the Darjeeling tea and Maggi, most meals lacked flavor and consistency. * Some evening snacks mentioned in the menu were replaced with lower-cost alternatives without prior notice. * Breakfast and lunch were often served late despite fixed meal timings, leaving guests waiting while hungry. * The dining staff’s communication and behavior need improvement. Every time food was delivered to our room, we were repeatedly reminded not to eat on the bed. Most guests already understand basic property rules, and any damage can be charged accordingly. Repeating the same instruction during every interaction felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. * Morning tea was not provided in the room. When requested, we were strictly told that tea would only be available after 9 AM. Even when we visited the dining area, the response remained the same. * Housekeeping and room service were not very prompt. * The cottage lacked proper seating arrangements such as a table and chairs, making it difficult to enjoy food comfortably indoors. * Bathroom fixtures including the tap, flush, and health faucet required maintenance and remained unresolved during our stay. * Wi-Fi was unavailable despite being listed as an amenity. * Guest concerns could be handled more proactively. Final Verdict Rishaan Homestay has a peaceful location and a helpful manager, but improvements in service quality, staff communication, food consistency, maintenance, and guest responsiveness are needed. The property has good potential, but the overall experience did not fully meet expectations.

**Visited Rishaan Homestay – My Honest Experience (3/5 ⭐)** We recently stayed at Rishaan Homestay for 2 days in their Deluxe Cottage (A1). The package cost was ₹1,800 per day, including meals, and we also received a ₹300 discount. Overall, it was a mixed experience with both positive and negative aspects. What we Liked: 1. The homestay has a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, making it a good place to unwind. 2. It is located in Upper Sittong. If the weather is clear and you're lucky, you may get a glimpse of the beautiful Kanchenjunga range from the property. 3. The manager, Vivek, was helpful and tried his best to accommodate our requests whenever possible. 4. A small local market is located about 500 meters away, where you can easily find essentials such as water, snacks, momos, beverages, and other daily necessities. 5. The Maggi we ordered separately was excellent, and the Darjeeling tea was very enjoyable. The breakfast provided was simple but good enough for a short stay. 6. The bathroom was clean and equipped with a geyser for hot water. Areas That Need Improvement: 1. Service was quite slow for additional food orders placed outside the package. In one instance, we waited nearly an hour for delivery to the cottage. 2. External food orders were not accepted after 8:00 PM, although this was not mentioned anywhere before booking. 3. The food included in the package was very basic and average. Some evening snack items mentioned in the menu were replaced with alternatives without prior notice (for example, French fries instead of samosas and onion pakoras instead of bread pakoras). 4. The staff member managing the dining area seemed to have some communication issues, which affected the overall dining experience. 5. Room service was not very prompt. Housekeeping generally started only after 11:00 AM. 6. Morning bed tea was not provided, which some guests may expect at a hill-station homestay. 7. Guests were repeatedly advised not to eat or drink on the bed. However, the cottage did not have adequate seating arrangements such as a table and chairs, making it difficult to enjoy snacks or beverages comfortably inside the room. 8. While the bathroom was clean, some fixtures required maintenance. The tap was not functioning properly, and both the flush system and health faucet had issues. We reported these problems, but no effective resolution was provided during our stay. 9. The property could be more responsive to guest concerns and overall guest satisfaction. 10. Wi-Fi was not available despite being listed as one of the property's amenities on Google. Additional Note: As the homestay is located in the hills and surrounded by nature, guests should expect to encounter insects and small creatures from time to time. This is quite normal for the location and not necessarily a drawback. Final Verdict: Rishaan Homestay offers a peaceful location, decent accommodation, and beautiful surroundings. However, improvements in service quality, maintenance, food consistency, and guest responsiveness would significantly enhance the overall experience. If you are comfortable with both the positives and negatives mentioned above, you may consider staying here. Otherwise, it may be worth exploring other homestay options in the area before making your decision. Thank you.

Rishaan Cottage is a peaceful and charming homestay that offers a truly relaxing experience for travelers looking to unwind away from the noise of city life. Nestled amidst lush greenery and surrounded by hills, the cottage provides a calm and refreshing atmosphere that instantly makes you feel connected to nature. The location is ideal for those who enjoy quiet mornings, fresh mountain air, and scenic views right from the property. The rooms at Rishaan Cottage are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. While the setup is simple, it has everything required for a comfortable stay. The bedding is cozy, the rooms are well-ventilated, and cleanliness is clearly a top priority. One of the highlights of staying here is the warm hospitality of the hosts. They are polite, helpful, and always ready to assist guests with local guidance, travel tips, or special food requests, which adds a personal touch to the overall experience. Food is another strong point of Rishaan Cottage. The home-cooked meals are delicious, freshly prepared, and reflect authentic local flavors. The use of fresh ingredients makes every meal satisfying, especially after a long day of sightseeing. Guests can also enjoy spending time in the common areas, soaking in the serene surroundings, clicking photos, or simply relaxing with a cup of tea while enjoying the view. Pros: Peaceful and scenic location surrounded by nature Clean, comfortable, and well-maintained rooms Warm and welcoming hosts with great hospitality Tasty home-cooked food with local flavors Ideal for a quiet, relaxing getaway Cons: Limited amenities compared to hotels or resorts May not be suitable for travelers looking for luxury Connectivity issues like weak mobile network at times Slightly secluded location, which may require prior planning Overall, Rishaan Cottage is an excellent choice for travelers who value tranquility, homely comfort, and natural beauty over luxury. It is perfect for couples, families, or solo travelers seeking a peaceful retreat and an authentic homestay experience.

The owner seems arrogant and the attitude he was showing on call doesn't suit him I guess. There's a lot of homestays in Sittong within this budget and even less. Would not recommend this homestay.

The view, the rooms and the location all are top notch. Rooms are very spacious and luxurious with bed warmers which are very much necessary in the winters. It also offers a magical view from the rooms itself. The negative point about this place is the service, service is very slow. There's only one guy who has to serve all the rooms, which results in late service and cold food. We asked for some tea at 4 pm but we were told by the cook itself(who was not sleeping) that all the staffs were taking rest we'll get tea at 6 pm, but unfortunately we got the tea at 7 pm. It's not even a homestay it's a resort so there should be basic facilities of providing atleast tea and coffee to the guests all day long. Hope they'll improve their service and don't allow this "late service" to be a reason for people missing out a luxurious stay at their place. Taste of all the meals could have been better but I like the variety in their pre-fixed menu. The wifi facility was missing which should have been available in such a premium quality cottage.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect, earning a solid 10/10 with its stunninghh views of the kanchenjunga. The hotel is neat and clean, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The staff behavior was exceptional, also deserving a 10/10 for their friendliness and professionalism. The food was decent, though not outstanding, so I’d rate it 7/10. However, the price was incredibly reasonable, offering great value at 10/10. Highly recommend this hotel for its prime location, cleanliness, and excellent service!!

A beautiful homestay with beautiful view of Kanchanjungha mountain range from Bed. The view of little buddha on a clear sky day can make your day, and worth your visit to this place. Must visit to Rock garden and small village just adjacent to this homestay. If you dare, can walk to the mountain early morning for birds view.
