Best Kanchenjunga view homestays in Darjeeling.

Published 10 July 2026 · Updated 22 July 2026

Roughly a third of the homestays we index in Darjeeling district describe themselves as having "mountain views" in their listings. About one in ten actually earns it in the reviews. This is the shortlist that does — every property below scores 4.5 or higher on the Kanchen AI View pillar right now.

How the View pillar is measured

View is one of five pillars we score independently for every homestay. It reads only for what guests describe seeing: which peaks, from where in the property, at what time of day, and how often the sky cooperated. "Great location" doesn't count. "Woke up to Kanchenjunga glowing at 5:40 from the room, not the terrace" does.

The scoring uses the last 24 months of reviews, up to 500 per property, in any language. English, Nepali, Hindi, Bengali — the AI reads the meaning, not the words.

The filter behind this list

  • Active homestays in Darjeeling district — no hotels, resorts, or lodges.
  • View pillar of 4.5/5 or better on the latest score.
  • Ranked by View pillar first, with confidence tier as the tiebreaker so a Deep-review property never sits below a Summary-only one at the same score.

Read the other four pillars before you book

The View pillar sorts the shortlist; it doesn't finish the decision. Shelter tells you whether the heater works in December. Water tells you whether the hot tap follows. Path tells you what the last kilometre looks like with luggage. Hearth tells you whether the hosts remember your name by dinner.

Every property card in the guide shows all five, plus its confidence tier and its most recent reviews. The methodology page has the exact rules.
