The Local Tribe - Homestay in Sonada, Offbeat Darjeeling and Kurseong

Me and my parents stayed here for one night. The location is right opposite the Salesian college on the main road. Quiet surroundings. The caretakers were exceptionally great. They tried their level best in providing everything we asked for. Whatever they couldn't provide like an electric kettle and tea kit, they politely apologised. The room and linen were neat and clean. The bathroom tap water flow was slow but probably that's how it is in the mountains. The geyser was functioning perfectly. The food quality though simple, was freshly cooked and hot. The caretaker was sweet enough to ask us to wake him up early so that he could prepare an early breakfast for us as we were supposed to checkout early next morning. We felt so much cared for here. I would request for an electric kettle and tea kit in the room, because that's what I missed here. Apart from that, everything was perfect. Thank you for such a great experience.

We stayed atThe Local Tribe for two days. It is one of the best homstays I ever stayed! Very clean nature view rooms. Awesome service. Apart from that we spent our whole evening talking to the owners. Its a small sta so the owners manage everything on their own from reception to cooking. There's a lady called Ashika who behaves so nicely that we felt meeting with an old friend. They are always ready to help. The food is also very good at a reasonable price. If someone looking for a stay in sonada, this is the place you won't regret!

I initially booked this place for just one night because I wasn’t sure where I was heading next and whether it would be clean enough for me. But I was genuinely surprised by how well the property is maintained. I extended my stay by two more days—and ended up staying for a full week! All the credit goes to the people who are now like family to me: Anshika and Nehal. They serve great momo And other delicacies. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave. Bhai, what a crazy view from the property—and what lovely people. You honestly can’t find a better place to stay. Sonada has a much better view and weather compared to Darjeeling. Darjeeling is beautiful, but because of the rush, it’s better to stay in Sonada—and The Local Tribe is the best place to stay. You have my word on it.

Best place to relax and enjoy. The scenery,food and service are excellent.

Visited on May 7th for dining. The place has a Great atmosphere, but the food was a letdown. The chicken momos and lemon tea were underwhelming and felt overpriced for the quality served. Disappointed that the taste didn't match the high expectations set by the vibe of the place.

This homestay is very beautiful, and the surrounding scenery is also amazing. From here, you can clearly see the tea gardens. The owner is very kind and has a great attitude. There is also a barbecue facility available. The rooms are well-decorated and nicely arranged. Moreover, the bathrooms are very clean and equipped with geysers
