We, a group of three, stayed at this homestay of Kolakham on 30th May 2026 and it turned out to be a truly memorable experience. The rooms were beautifully designed with great attention to guests' comfort and requirements. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and equipped with all necessary amenities. The highlight of the stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking view of the snow-capped Kanchenjunga. On a clear morning, one can enjoy the majestic mountain range right from the comfort of the bed. The property has only three wooden guest rooms, giving it an intimate and peaceful atmosphere. The two upper rooms feature charming attic spaces that are simply amazing. This was the first time I had seen such thoughtfully designed attic rooms in a homestay, and they added a unique charm to the stay. The food was delicious, homely, and well-prepared. The caretaker was attentive and took excellent care of all the guests. The collection of books, journals, and a guitar kept in the kitchen and common area added warmth and aesthetic appeal to the property, making it feel more like a home than a commercial accommodation. Although the owner stays away from the property, she actively monitored the comfort and well-being of the guests, which was greatly appreciated. While the tariff may seem slightly on the higher side, it is well justified by the quality of accommodation, hospitality, ambiance, and the unforgettable views on offer. Overall, this is a stay to be cherished, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone seeking peace, comfort, and a spectacular Kanchenjunga experience.

This place is full of tranquility. Staffs are well behaved. Food quality and taste are just like our Kolkata. Rooms are extremely clean. Best offbeat of NB.

Spent two days at this beautiful homestay and was left wishing we had stayed longer. The stay was very comfortable, view from the rooms are breathtaking (highly recommend the attic). The caretaker Rapple is one of the sweetest, smiling host and he will arrange you a bonfire and prepare the most delicious chicken ever. This place is ideal for bird watching and is close to Change waterfall!

Really nice place for a relaxing, serene stay. The caretaker was friendly and helpful. We visited Changey Falls from there – beautiful spot. And the night view was wow, stars everywhere. Cozy and tranquil overall. Recommended!

Excellent stay with great service, homely food and views. Rooms are very neat, with an attic that has great views you can wake up to. Rooms have good balconies too, with the common area also having a very large balcony that serves as the area for bonfire and barbecue. Kolakham is excellent for birdwatching, and a lot of birds can be seen from this balcony itself. Overall a really good stay.

Very bad experience.. Worst management.. They need to change the caretaker.. No electricity even though there was no load shedding..

Had a good stay overall. The room was spacious with comfortable beds and a lovely view. The food was also good. However, the service needs improvement. The room (washroom, tables) and kitchen (seats and kitchen washbasin) were not clean, there were spiders, and the service for snacks was very slow. WiFi was out, but that's understandable in the hills. We really appreciated the kind goodbye gift. Thank you!
