Green Hood Homestay

First, I want to say something good about this homestay the view from the balcony is unmatchable and you can view kanchanjanga and its range from the balcony. Sitting area is so cosy they have free Wi-Fi books to read. They have total 4 rooms in homestay. Rooms are spacious and clean. Its a well maintain homestay. Things i don't like about this home stays is they charge over for the food. They have no rate list and they charged for water as well. If they adopt a dog they should maintain the cleanness and dog should not be in the kitchen all the time.

Stayed at Greenhood Homestay during our visit to Darjeeling. The location is peaceful and away from the crowded Mall Road area, making it ideal for those who enjoy a quiet stay amidst nature. The property is surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful mountain landscapes. Unfortunately, the weather remained cloudy and rainy throughout our stay, so we were unable to enjoy the mountain views that the location is known for. The main drawback was the hospitality. The caretaker was not very welcoming and seemed disengaged, often busy with his own work. The level of service and attentiveness was below expectations, which affected the overall experience. Overall, the homestay has a great location and natural surroundings, but improvements in hospitality and guest service would make the stay much more enjoyable.

The homestay and the owner were absolutely awesome! However, it is located about a 15-minute walk from Mall Road, and because of the steep, hilly roads, it might not be suitable for elderly people. On the bright side, if you are young and looking for a pleasant, peaceful place with great ambience and a stunning view of Kanchenjunga, this is the perfect spot.

I can't say enough good things about Greenwood Homestay! The place was impeccably clean and beautifully maintained throughout our stay. Our host was so welcoming and kind, giving us all the tips for the area. The view of Kanchenjunga from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking—every sunrise was pure magic. Plus, the homemade food was a dream—fresh, delicious, and made with love. Easily a good choice for the stay in darjeeling.

We have stayed in green hood for two days.Over all our experience was good.You don't have to go any view point. Your balcony is the view point. You have to walk 1.5 km stiff downward to reach the homestay.Car can't go there or you have to drive extra 10 kms. The room was okay with aesthetic touch but the bedsheet and pillow cover was not looking like they're clean or not used.Good Food was not available. Bathroom Flash wasn't working the 2nd day. But you can enjoy here peacefully without anyone's interference like your own home.and I'm attaching some pics for the view. The owner's behaviour was nice and they were helpful. Overall we were happy but it was difficult to reach their with so many luggages

We recently stayed for two days at Greenhood Homestay in Darjeeling. We had booked it after seeing many good reviews, but upon arrival we found that the property had been taken on lease by a Bengali person just 15 days ago, which we were not aware of. After reaching, we left our luggage and went out for sightseeing, so we didn’t properly check the room at first. Our past homestay experiences had never been bad, so we didn’t expect any issues. However, when we returned at night, we found the toilet completely unclean—it hadn’t been cleaned at all. The bedsheets and pillow covers hadn’t been changed, and even the room hadn’t been cleaned. We informed the caretaker, and he said this shouldn’t have happened and that it would be cleaned the next day. We took fresh bedsheets from him and changed them ourselves. The next morning, we saw that he was still sleeping till 9 am, and the owner, Karma ji, served us tea and breakfast. We informed him about the situation, and he assured us it would be cleaned. We handed over the keys and went out. Later, the room was cleaned, and the Bengali caretaker apologized and assured us that this wouldn’t happen again. Maybe he lacks experience in handling these matters, but it did affect our trip negatively. The property itself is about 550 meters from the Mall. Since we had a scooty, it wasn’t a problem for us, but for others, especially Bengali tourists, walking up and down might be a bit tiring as bigger vehicles cannot reach there. However, the view of Kanchenjunga from the room and balcony is really beautiful. If anyone plans to book this homestay, I would suggest contacting the owner directly before confirming the booking.

Excellent atmosphere. Everything is neat and clean. Elder brother Karma is very polite. Breakfast is tasty. There are two main problems - one is very steep road and other is long distance from the mall. Homestay rent per day is slightly high. Bike service is available here. Spot booking is available. I had the pleasure of staying here a beautiful homestay that offered not only the best room with a breathtaking view, but also the warmest hospitality. A clean stay with wide views of the Kanchanjunga and other mountains. The host, Karma, is a humble and honest person. It has broadband, geiser. The downside is the distance from Mall road. You have to walk half km stiff uphill, to reach Mall road and access transport options.

Totally loved this place! It offers the best, unobstructed view of Kanchenjunga, which is absolutely breathtaking. You can book online by calling the given number. it directly connects to the owner, with no brokers involved, making it completely reliable. The owner is incredibly humble and honest, which adds to the charm of staying here. Whether you're with family or a group of friends, this place is totally worth it. However, for elderly visitors, reaching Mall Road might be a bit challenging due to the steep path. You can take a shared scooty or bike which is frequently available. That said, I highly recommend overlooking these small inconveniences and booking this place. The peaceful environment and stunning views make it one of the best stays you'll ever experience. There is a monestry few minutes walking, go there as well.

I stayed here for two nights. The people are very friendly and helpful. The homestay rooms are good. Views are really great. So, if everything is good, why am I giving a three-star rating? The reason is the location. It is situated downhill, and it takes about 25-30 minutes to walk from the homestay to Mall Road, which is quite tough. Road is also bad. No cars can drop you there, and there's no space to reverse a car. Only bike taxis are available, and they charge Rs 40 per person. This was the only issue I faced and I think it's a big issue. But if you manage bike taxi with Rs40 each person then it's a must visit property.
