Yashshree Sanderling Mall Road

We’ve stayed at Sanderling several times over the years because the location, rates, and parking are great. Sadly, this visit was underwhelming. The booking process wasn’t smooth at all.. we were asked to call a number instead of booking directly at reception, and although the person on the phone was very polite, the whole process took much longer than it should have. The room was clean, the housekeeping and restaurant staff were warm and helpful, the breakfast buffet had a good spread, and the view overlooking the Gymkhana club’s tennis courts was lovely. Unfortunately, the reception let the experience down for us. It took around 6 hours and multiple reminder calls for the extra bed we’d booked to arrive.. and we finally got it around 11pm despite checking in around 4pm. Despite booking directly with the hotel for two nights, we received multiple calls on the second day asking when we were checking out because of a misunderstanding on their end, but Instead of acknowledging the error, the receptionist insisted we had “extended” our stay. The bathroom also lacked basic conveniences like a towel rack, the shower handle was broken, hot water was only available during fixed hours, the lift remained out of service throughout our stay despite repeated assurances it would be fixed “today,” and there was constant noise at night. Overall, it was an okay stay, but the service and maintenance weren’t up to the standard we remembered. Honestly, we’ll probably consider a different hotel on our next visit to Darjeeling.

*I had a very disappointing experience staying at this hotel for three days. The hotel claims to be a 3-star property, but based on my experience, that rating feels completely misleading. The overall maintenance is very poor, and the facilities do not match what you would expect from a 3-star hotel. The biggest issue was that the hotel has only one lift, and it was not working at all during our entire stay. There was no effort from the management to fix it or provide any assistance. We had to use the stairs every single time, which was extremely inconvenient, especially while carrying luggage. This hotel is not recommended for couples, families with children, senior citizens, or anyone with mobility issues. Having only one lift, and that too being out of service, is unacceptable for a hotel of this size. The staff did not seem concerned about guest inconvenience, and the lack of proper maintenance made the stay even more frustrating. We expected a comfortable stay, but instead, it turned into a very unpleasant experience. I would strongly advise everyone to avoid booking this hotel. Don't be misled by its claimed 3-star rating. There are far better hotels that offer better service, proper maintenance, and value for your money.*

To make matters worse, all the Executive Rooms are located on the 4th floor, which is highly inconvenient, especially for elderly guests or those carrying heavy luggage. The service provided by the hotel staff is equally pathetic. There is no sense of urgency or professionalism when handling guest concerns. Every issue raised is met with excuses rather than solutions, and the staff seem unwilling or unable to resolve even basic problems. Instead of ensuring guest comfort, they leave guests to deal with the inconvenience on their own. Overall, the hotel lacks proper maintenance, customer service, and hospitality standards. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay. Management should seriously focus on improving maintenance, staff responsiveness, and overall guest experience before accepting bookings.*

The rooms are quite expensive as compared to the rooms condition. Else everything is nice. Breakfast is complementary with varieties. The staffs are very humble. You can pr fer as it is nearby mall road.

One of the best things about this hotel is its excellent location, just a short walk from Mall Road, which made it very convenient to explore Darjeeling's attractions, local shops, and restaurants. The food served at the hotel was delicious, with a good variety of options, and every meal was fresh and flavorful. The overall ambiance was peaceful, making it a perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. I truly enjoyed every moment of my stay and was impressed by the hotel's cleanliness, hospitality, and attention to detail.
