Absolutely insane Vibe this hostel has!!
My review might sound like an exaggeration but honestly I'll be understating the comfort you get from the hosts, and the regulars when you are here.
I was in kalimpong for a week. Stayed here for 4 days and booked Buddha Pada for 3 night but still ended up staying last 2 night back here.
Buddha Pada is great. No doubt. Peaceful. Good food. But hills tale is a small cute hostel but very homely!
I didn't get too many hostels and videos of the vibe cause I was lost in the air.
I stayed in their dorm and loved it but honestly their private room is next level!!
Absolutely loved my stay at Hills Tale - the location is perfect and the mountain view from the terrace is beautiful. I stayed in the female dorm and it's such a cute and clean space! The host is also friendly and super chill. They also personalised my stay with city tours that brought me closer to nature, just as I had asked. So glad to have chosen Hills Tale during my visit to Kalimpong. Can't wait to go back soon!
It was such a cozy place! They have a beautiful terrace and a common room as well.
The people there were so welcoming.

The only happening and full of livelihood stay I believe.. Thank you to beautiful host.. Nischal & Sabdup bhai, both were friendly at the same time caring brother... The hospitality is amazing..if coming to Kalimpong as a Solo traveller, I would suggest stay atleast 2 day with them and experience the scooty ride road trip service.. taking to amazing non touristy places.. They prepared thupka for all of us strangers which in few hrs became friends 😅. Female dorm is cute and spacious, bedding are comfortable and washroom is totally hygeine. Terrace has a beautiful view and giggling place. Kalimpong is remembered as a Hill Tales from where I took many tales 🌸

I was so impressed by the setup of this place. Most importantly, the bed linens were very clean. It was pouring on the day I visited, and it felt so nice to retreat to a clean and warm bed. The location is very ideal; it is very walkable to both the market places as well as the taxi stand.

A must go hostel for youngsters especially solo travellers in Kalimpong! You will find a very well curated cultural ambience at the Hostel. Run by talented youngsters with a vision for future including environmental friendly and clean Kalimpong. Should definitely opt for the tour of Kalimpong city by them- enjoyed the customised tour with the very well read and friendly Nischal! Will definitely stay with Hills Tale in future! All the best! ✨
This stay will give you a wonderful experience. It is combination of peace and wilderness altogether. Cleanliness is good, services and recommendation are good too. Food is also very tasty. Give it a try and you won't regret it.
I stayed here for 2 nights, loved it. The room is desinged very well, with different zones for work, relaxing and else. There was dumbell and a bicycle in the terrace, so i could work out.
The Hosts are wonderful, we had a nice ride to another village.

Wonderful hostel! Sandup and Arien are great hosts, the atmosphere is perfect and the food they offer was delicious. We stayed in the private room upstairs which is spacious, cosy and really clean. We also liked the roof top and the common area downstairs. Would definitely recommend staying here and come back one time!

Had a really awesome week staying at Hills Tale. Place/view was great, rooms were clean and cozy, food was excellent, specially mushroom soup thuppa. The host was excellent, felt like a second home. Met some really cool people during my stay.

I had the most beautiful solo stay at HillsTale in Kalimpong.From the moment I arrived, the hosts,Nischal and Sandup made me feel completely at home-so warm, kind and effortlessly chill.
The views were honestly breathtaking.Waking up to those serene hills and fresh mountain air to walking up to some of the most cute cafes and ending the day with the solid 10/10 vibe scale was exactly what I needed.
The location is spot on, well placed to explore the beautiful hills while still being close to all the basic amenities.Talking about the home-cooked meals?? Absolutely amazing, every meal felt comforting and full of care.
This place is truly special offering real connection with locals and bagpackers.I'd go back in a heartbeat.
