I booked my stay at Forktail House through Izifisi for two rooms, with 100% advance payment already completed.
The rooms themselves were decent—neat, clean, and comfortable. However, the swimming pool was extremely dirty and unusable, which was quite disappointing.
The biggest issue was the caretaker, Farooq, whose conduct throughout our stay raised serious concerns.
Before we arrived, he called and claimed that, according to their records, I had booked three rooms instead of two. I clarified that I had booked only two rooms, but he insisted their system showed three. He also confirmed that my booking had been fully paid, so I agreed to proceed based on what he was telling me.
However, at the time of checkout, he suddenly demanded payment for a third room, claiming that I had actually booked only two rooms but had occupied three. This made no sense, since the third room had been allotted by him after assuring me that everything was fully paid. I had to immediately contact Izifisi, who verified that my original booking was indeed for two rooms, after which he dropped the demand.
A similar issue happened with the food charges. Izifisi had informed me that the meal package cost ₹1,500 per person, but during checkout the caretaker insisted it was ₹1,700 per person. Once again, I had to call Izifisi to confirm the agreed price, and only then was the amount corrected.
On top of that, we ordered one plate of Fish Fingers and one plate of Chilli Fish, for which we were charged ₹950. We were told the amount included GST, yet no proper bill or tax invoice was provided despite asking.
Overall, while the rooms were satisfactory, the repeated billing discrepancies and the need to constantly verify charges with Izifisi made the experience unnecessarily stressful. My advice to future guests is to carefully verify every charge, keep all booking confirmations handy, and insist on proper bills for any additional payments.
Overall a beautiful experience. A must visit if you want a quick escape into the lap of nature. The quality of stay, ambience and food is next level. The caretaker (Faruk) was so helpful and efficient to handle all your requests at the stay.

*An Amazing Hill Station Stay in Lava*
We stayed at this beautiful villa in Lava and it was absolutely worth it. Tucked right in the lap of the hills, it’s the perfect silent, scenic spot for a family getaway.
*What stood out:*
- *Location & views*: Stunning hill views with a swimming pool overlooking the valley. Peaceful and away from the crowds.
- *Rooms*: Every room was cozy, spotless, and came with a heater – a blessing in the hills. Washrooms were super clean.
- *Food & hospitality*: The food was awesome, home-style and delicious. There was an LPG shortage during our stay, yet the staff managed every meal on wood fire without any compromise. That level of commitment is rare.
- *Staff*: Absolutely wonderful. Courteous, helpful, and went out of their way to make us comfortable.
- *Reliability*: They didn’t cancel any bookings despite challenges – shows real professionalism.
If you’re looking for a quiet family place in Lava with great food, clean cozy rooms, and staff that genuinely cares, this is it. We’ll definitely be back.

We stayed at Forktail House for 2 days and had an amazing experience. The property is absolutely beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Our stay was extremely comfortable, and the kids-friendly environment made it perfect for families.
The service was truly top-notch thanks to Md. Faruk. He was incredibly warm, polite, and attentive throughout our stay. His hospitality, caring nature, and willingness to help made us feel completely at home.
We truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend Forktail House for a relaxing, comfortable, and memorable getaway!

We recently stayed at Forktail and here’s the honest breakdown:
*The Good:*
The views are genuinely epic and something that will stay with you. If you’re looking for peace, Forktail delivers at its peak - it’s quiet, surrounded by nature, and you’ll get the break you’re looking for. There are multiple seating areas around the property which makes it good for hosting groups. The approach roads are also perfect, no hassle reaching the place.
*The Bad:*
1. *Not the luxury it claims to be* - The property promotes itself as a luxury getaway, but in reality it’s a decent homestay. The rooms are smaller than they appear in photos and quite basic for the price you pay.
2. *Food & Staff* - Food options are very limited. The staff weren’t very friendly and helpers were adamant about their own comfort. Basic things like refilling toiletries weren’t done unless asked multiple times.
3. *Maintenance issues* - The swimming pool wasn’t cleaned during our stay. At night there are 1000s of insects which really spoil any outdoor gathering.
4. *Pet situation* - The property has a lot of dogs roaming around. If you’re scared of dogs or have kids, this could be a real problem.
*Bottom line:*
Forktail is a good property with amazing views and peaceful vibes. If you go in expecting a cozy homestay with basic amenities, you’ll enjoy it. But it’s not worth the premium price they charge for a “luxury” tag. For the rate, you expect better service, food variety, and upkeep.
Would recommend only if views + peace are your only priorities.

A wonderful, relaxing getaway! The location is stunning and truly feels like 'a home away from home'. Our room was spacious, clean, and offered beautiful views. The staff were always motivated to help and serve guests with a warm smile. A special thanks to Mr. Faruk for everything.. Night views with crispy chicken pakoda and tea were a great addition to our evenings.. We especially loved the infinity pool.. we enjoyed alot… the Food was very tasty.. Overhyped, Mayfair is a heritage 5star hotel and provide better service than this dhaba style hotel.

The beautifully preserved British-era architecture, pristine white interiors, and breathtaking mountain surroundings create an atmosphere that feels both regal and serene.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality that made us feel completely at home. Every member of the staff was courteous, attentive, and genuinely committed to ensuring a memorable experience. Their personalized service added a special touch to our stay. Guest reviews consistently praise the property's hospitality and staff courtesy, and we experienced exactly the same. I would like to make a special mention of Farukh, who is incharge of the property, has taken care of all our small and big needs during our stay. He understood everybit of our requirements and has acted accordingly.
