We booked on Airbnb because this was marked as a guest-favorite property, and I can see why. Nikhil, the host, was amazing in making us feel welcome and telling us about all of the things to do in Darjeeling. He walked to our car in the rain to escort us to the house, and then felicitated us with some stoles before we left. Multiple times a day he called and messaged us to make sure we had drinking water, hot water, and all the necessary facilities.
The apartment itself is very nice especially for the price, with three beds, two bathrooms, a narrow yet beautiful garden balcony with clothesline overlooking the mountains, there is a stream some distance away so you get the soothing sound of water always. The kitchen is fully equipped, and we cooked a meal there--amazing experience.
Finally, in terms of location, it just a 3-min walk up-stairs to the main chowk/train station with lots of stores for food and daily essentials. And, 10 minute walk mostly up-stairs to mall road. The taxi stand is also about 12 mins away.
During peak season in Darjeeling when roads are jammed with traffic and intra-town rides aren't available this type of location saved us. We walked everywhere, and when we needed a break in the middle we could just come back home.

We were two female travellers staying at Destinasia Retreat for 6 days, and it truly felt like a home away from home! Getting the entire apartment to ourselves at this price was an absolute steal. The space is clean, spacious, and perfect for families or a group of friends. The kitchen is well-equipped if you feel like cooking.
Nikhil and his lovely family went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, they took care of us like their own and shared super helpful local tips that made our trip even better.
The place is within walking distance of the Darjeeling railway station, Mall Road, and the taxi stand, though do keep in mind that the the property is a downhill walk from Darjeeling railway station and no vehicle can go there so plan your luggage carrier accordingly.
Overall, a peaceful, heartwarming stay. Would definitely recommend!
