Hi! I was in Darjeeling during the month of June for research. I stayed at the Yellow Moon Homestay for a month and I can safely say that this has been the best stay I’ve had in all my time of travelling. You’ll have to believe me because when you stay somewhere for a month, you get to see its true nature. I can assure you, this is it. Before I even arrived, I was being asked where I'd reached, and my dinner was also kept ready. So their hospitality starts before you even arrive. I don’t eat spicy food, so I informed the owners, Shivam Sir & Swikriti Maam, and then onwards they prepared all my meals according to my taste. The food tasted better than what I expected. I had both my meals, breakfast & dinner here. I could eat whatever I wanted, all I had to do was inform them a day before. All my meals were served on time. The rooms here are very cozy and comfortable. My room was cleaned regularly, and the bedsheet was also changed every 2 days. Hygiene was maintained throughout my stay. The bedcovers and blankets are of good quality and were very clean. The electricity and water was barely an issue here. I am habitual of using showers, and this homestay has a great shower system, with good water pressure. There is a washing machine that you can use if you’re staying for long, and it’s not expensive to use. The WiFi connection was very good, and rarely went out, considering the monsoons. I was a solo female traveller, and safety was not an issue here at all. Unlike the main city, this homestay has a peaceful atmosphere, not noisy. If you’re looking for an authentic homestay experience, choose Yellow Moon Homestay. This place will 100% not disappoint you. Additionally, they also offer vehicle renting services. I rented a scooty for 4 days, and didn’t have any issues at all. The pricing was affordable and scooty didn’t have any functional issues. Whatever you need, the owners are here to help you. All you have to do is ask. I’m a Yellow Moon Homestay Veteran, having stayed here for a month, I can confirm that the owners are dedicated to making your stay comfortable and worthwhile. Yellow Moon Homestay felt like a home away from home to me. I've stayed in many places, but this homestay sets the standard for what hospitality should be. I would highly recommend it without any hesitation to anyone who is looking for an authentic, comfortable, and memorable experience. Stayed here with friends for 4days (13-5-2026 to 16-5-2026) and honestly the place felt very comfortable and peaceful. Room was clean, location was nice, and the owner bhaiya was very cooperative. Felt more like a homely stay than a hotel. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget friendly and relaxing place.”

Room is just OK. The water tap in the bathroom is slightly defective. The behaviour of the staffs are very good and friendly. The location of this homestay is on the road to Rock Garden (beside Bloomfield High School), so it is far away from the bus stand and The Mall for tourists. If you have private car or bike then it's ok, otherwise you may face difficulties.
