Great Homestay, friendly atmosphere, great service

It is an Awesome place to live at Lava near Lava Monastry, very wonderful atmosphere,calm,quite.Rooms are spacious and equipped with all types of amenities ,hospitality and behaviour of all supporting staffs are excellent and they are very polite.They offer Various delicious food during breakfast,Lunch,dinner and evening snacks.Propiter Anupam Babu and his wife are very much cordial.we have fantastic experience with lot of pleasant memories.We must visit again.

What makes this place even more inspiring is Anupam’s journey from a software professional to building his dream homestay across offbeat locations like Lava, Rishop, and Kolakham. His calm nature, patience, and innovative thinking truly reflect in every corner of the property. One unique touch I loved is their tagline: “E = MC² (Energy = Milk × Chai²)”—it perfectly captures the vibe of the place! The walls are adorned with creative and thoughtful paintings, giving the homestay a very distinct personality. Honestly, just like hotels have 3★, 4★, 5★ ratings, homestays like Shaakyamuni deserve their own category—they redefine comfort, warmth, and uniqueness. Our stay at Lava in the beautiful Kalimpong district of North Bengal was truly unforgettable. Nestled amidst lush greenery and misty hills, the "Shaakyamuni Homestay" offered a perfect blend of comfort, warmth, and scenic charm. Waking up to breathtaking views of the mountains and the soothing sounds of nature was an experience in itself. The hosts, Mr. Anupam Mukherjee & his wife Mrs.Mousumi Mukherjee were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home with their genuine hospitality and care. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, with all the basic amenities in place. One of the highlights was the delicious home-cooked meals, 4 times a day, which added an authentic local touch to our stay. The peaceful environment made it an ideal escape from city life, and its proximity to attractions like Lava Monastery (Ratnarishi Bihar Buddhist Gumpa), Neora Valley Interpretation Centre, Changey Waterfalls, and trekking l made exploring even more convenient. Overall, it was a relaxing and refreshing experience, and I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature in Lava.

A cozy stay in midst of nature. If you want to escape from the daily hustle and unwind your life, this is a place to be. In our trip for 3 days, we enjoyed the nature at its best. This homestay offered us surprisingly comforting food along with clean hygienic rooms at an affordable package. So, if you are planning for Lava give this homestay a try.

Had a pleasurable experience of staying in this place. Rooms are spacious and spotless. Food is comforting in chilly weather. Special highlight was being a 🐶 friendly option for those who loves to travel with their companion 🐶. The stay offers a mesmerizing view from your room and if you are lucky with the weather you might be able to witness the majestic snow peaked mountain with a shimmering glow just after waking up from the cozy bed with a sip of Darjeeling tea. As much as poetic it sounds, it doesn't burden your pocket in the end. So, if you want to retreat and heal your soul, give this place a try, you won't regret anything... Shaakyamuni Homestay is not a only Homestay, it's a second home with homely atmosphere, food and of course the behavior of Anupam Babu and his wife. Amazing place. Very clean. Nice amenities and at an affordable price. The people were pleasant to talk to and hospitable. The place was decorated beautifully. The food was delicious and not overly rich and spicy.
