"Many guests found rooms cozy and clean, but several reviews reported small room sizes, damp walls, lack of working electrical backup during frequent outages, and insects/leeches during rains."
Frequent power outages with no in-room inverter backup sockets; dampness and bugs reported in wet weather.
"Geysers are installed in most bathrooms, but hot water becomes unavailable during long power cuts. Occasional complaints regarding dirty bathrooms and missing geysers in specific rooms."
No hot water during power cuts as geysers rely solely on grid electricity.
"On-site caretaker Ujjal Da and local staff receive glowing reviews for heartwarming hospitality, home-cooked food, and guided walks, though off-site owner interactions and consistency drew isolated sharp complaints."
"The final 1.5 to 2 km approach road is notoriously steep, unpaved, and in very poor condition, requiring an experienced driver and difficult to traverse during monsoon."
Extremely rough, treacherous last-mile road access.
"High hilltop vantage point provides sweeping panoramic vistas of pine forests, valleys, and distant Sikkim hills right from rooms; however, Kanchenjunga is typically only visible after a short walk behind the property."

Horrible Experience. THREATENED BY THE OWNER FOR SHARING NEGATIVE REVIEW. DONT BOOK. KINDLY CHECK 1 STAR REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING. Salesperson/owner MANAS is a liar. He will say that this is the best homestay and take advance payment and if you face any problems he won't even talk with you. 1. Manas receives the call upon inquiry with full of attitude. He claims that there's 24x7 electricity supply and will not face any problems with electricity supply. But there's not even a single plug in the room which is connected to the inverter. If your battery runs out it's on you and they say we can't do anything. 2. They say there's 30-35mbps wifi connection but that's a lie as well. There's a wifi router but there's no internet. When we booked the room they said don't worry about the internet, it's always available. FUN FACT - There were no THUNDERSTORM or EARTHQUAKE or TSUNAMI that day which might break the internet connection. 3. NO ACCOUNTABILITY - there's a girl by the name of Banashree who identified herself as manager has no accountability at all. When asked about why they made a false commitment she said we can't do anything, pay the full rent and get out. 4. THREATENED BY THE OWNER. - Upon booking for three days with an advance payment when we found out the issues we asked for a clarification from MANAS but he asked Banashree to call. She said write whatever review you want but pay the full rent and get out. When my friend wrote a review, the owner THREATENED us by saying that they can share our details publicly if necessary. This was an attempt from their side to delete the negative reviews. 5. THE ROOMS ARE DIRTY AND FILTHY. THERE WERE STAINS IN THE BEDSHEETS AND WHOLE ROOM SMELL LIKE ROTTEN FISH.

Extremely Disappointing & Misleading Experience I had a terrible experience at Purexp Rejoy Homestay. Before booking, I specifically called the owner and clearly asked about electricity backup and internet, as I needed to work from the property. The owner (Manas Karmakar) confidently promised that: - The rooms had inverter backup for electricity. - There was Jio Wi-Fi with 30 Mbps internet. - I could comfortably work from the homestay without any issues. Unfortunately, after checking in, almost every important commitment turned out to be false. There was no inverter backup in the rooms, the Wi-Fi did not work, and there was virtually no mobile network either. This made working from the property practically impossible. Had the owner honestly informed us about these limitations before booking, we would have simply chosen another place. Another major issue was the terrible road/approach to the homestay. We travelled in our own car, and the road was in such poor condition that reaching the property felt risky. This was also never properly disclosed by the owner before booking. What made the experience even worse was the complete lack of ownership and accountability after we raised these issues. Instead of personally calling us and trying to understand or resolve the situation, the owner never bothered to properly discuss the matter. The billing manager (Banashree Chakraborty) later called asking for full payment. When we explained what had actually happened, our concerns were simply denied, and our situation was even made fun of. This was extremely disrespectful and showed a complete lack of customer care. The biggest problem is not that things went wrong — it is that we were specifically promised facilities that simply did not exist. These were not minor inconveniences; they directly affected our ability to stay and work there. My strong advice: Do not rely on verbal promises from the owner. Get every facility and condition confirmed in writing before booking. If you need reliable electricity, working internet, mobile connectivity or safe road access, I would strongly recommend avoiding this property. Very disappointing experience. Misleading commitments, poor facilities, difficult access and extremely poor customer handling. Definitely not worth the money or the trouble.

As the manager of Rejoy Homestay, I would recommend this place to travellers who love exploring mountains, villages, and offbeat destinations. 🏔️🌿 Rishop is a peaceful place, away from the crowd and noise, with beautiful clouds, forests, and village-side vibes. From our rooms, you can enjoy views of the Neora Valley forest range and the Sikkim–Nathula mountain range. On clear-weather days, you may also get a beautiful view of Kanchenjunga. If you love nature, mountains, and peaceful stays, Rishop is definitely worth exploring. ❤️

Rishop, located in West Bengal, offers an pristine natural environment. It is situated in close proximity to Kalimpong and positioned above Lava. Our stay extended for a duration of two nights and three days. The proprietor of the homestay, particularly Prasenjit, demonstrated exceptional hospitality and assistance. The homestay arranged transportation for us through "Tamang Bhai," who also proved to be a commendable individual. Our visit took place from August 16th to August 18th, 2026. Food: 5/5 View: 5/5 Room Size: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Should you be interested in visiting, please indicate your interest or contact me for further guidance.

*We have stayed at Purexp Rejoy homestay ( located at upper rishap) for our very special monsoon trip in August, 2026. Rishap offers one of the most serene vantage points in the Kalimpong hills, and staying at this homestay captures the absolute best of the region.* *The Experience & Vibes :* Waking up to a unobstructed, panoramic view of the kalimpong and sikkim hills range right from the window makes the climb up to Rishap completely worth it. The altitude ( Near about 9000ft) gives the property a secluded, crisp mountain atmosphere—perfect for disconnecting. At night, the village lights of Lava below and the starlit sky above create an almost magical backdrop. * *Prime Location:* Situated at one of the highest points in Rishap, offering breathtaking 180-degree views of the Eastern Himalayas without the noise of commercial tourist hubs. * *Exceptional Hospitality:* The manager (Prasenjit Sen) and staff go above and beyond. From arranging early morning tea to helping with local sightseeing tips and logistics, their warmth makes you feel right at home. * *Cozy & Authentic Atmosphere:* Wooden-paneled rooms retain heat well against the chilly high-altitude winds, featuring home-cooked local fresh meals prepared. *Things to Keep in Mind* * *Road Conditions:* The last stretch of the road leading up from Lava 6 miles to Rishap can be bumpy and unpaved; hiring a high-clearance local vehicle (like Bolero or Sumo) is strongly recommended. * *High Altitude Chill:* Temperatures drop significantly, especially after sunset. Carry adequate woolens and thermal wear. * *Insects and leech:* As the homestay located in a jungle area, at night you may experience some flying insects may enter your room through open window. Most importantly be careful from the leech. Always Keep salt with yourself if you want to enjoy the jungle road by walking yourself. *Verdict* If you want an authentic mountain escape with unmatched full Kanchenjunga range views, warm home-cooked food, pet friendly and warm hospitality, this homestay is an absolute gem.

**Review of Pure XP Rijoy Homestay** I would like to share my honest experience to help future travelers make an informed decision before booking this homestay. **1. Very Poor Road Condition** The road leading to the homestay is in extremely poor condition. Reaching the property by car or bike is quite difficult, especially during the rainy season. If you are not an experienced driver or rider, the journey can be stressful. And by walking to reach the homestay or to the road (I Love Rishop) you have to do 1.6 KM trekking! **2. No Hot Water During Power Cuts** Hot water is only available when electricity is available. During power outages, there is no alternative arrangement for hot water, which can be very inconvenient in a cold hill station. And there is no power almost half of the day. **3. Damp Rooms and Poor Hygiene** The rooms felt damp, and the bedding did not appear to be properly maintained. The bedsheets and pillow covers did not seem to be changed regularly between guests, which raised concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. **4. Average Food Quality** The food was below expectations and very limited (What I haven't seen in any homestay). While it was edible. the taste, quality, and overall experience were disappointing compared to many other homestays in the region. **5. No Kanchenjunga View from the Homestay** If you are booking this place expecting a direct view of Kanchenjunga, you may be disappointed. You have to walk approximately 1.5 km to a separate viewpoint to enjoy the mountain view. **6. Unfriendly Behavior of the Hosts** The landlord and the lady managing the property were not particularly welcoming or friendly. Their attitude did not make us feel comfortable, which affected the overall experience. **7. Mobile Network Issues** Mobile network coverage is very poor around the homestay. Calls and internet connectivity are unreliable, so be prepared if you need to stay connected. **8. Overpriced Local Transport** If you book a vehicle through the homestay, you may end up paying significantly more than the local market rate. It is better to compare prices and arrange transport independently if possible. **9. No Proper Garden** Although the property may mention having a garden, there is not much of a garden to speak of. If you are expecting a well-maintained outdoor space to relax, you may be disappointed. **Overall Experience** The location itself is peaceful, but the poor road condition, lack of cleanliness, limited facilities, average food, weak hospitality, and overpriced transport made the stay less enjoyable than expected. I hope the management addresses these issues to improve the experience for future guests. **Service** 1. Exceptional Support from the Manager (Ujjwal Da) The best part of my stay was the excellent service provided by the manager, Ujjwal Da. He is a genuinely kind, humble, and helpful person. His behavior, guidance, and willingness to assist made a significant difference to our overall experience. What impressed me the most was that he even helped us with things that were completely outside his official responsibilities. He went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Among everyone at the homestay, he was the only person whose service truly stood out and deserves appreciation. 2. Other Staff I did not have much interaction with the other staff members, so I cannot fairly comment on their service or behavior. 3. Friendly Dogs The homestay has several beautiful and friendly dogs. If you are a dog lover, you will probably enjoy spending time with them, as they add a warm and welcoming touch to the property.
