Located at the top of the mountain in Upper Chatakpur, it gives an almost panoramic view of the surrounding hills and mountains. On a clear morning you can see the Kanchenjunga clearly on one side and Sittong village on the other side and the city of Siliguri far off in the distance beyond the foothills.
A wonderful place to just sit and relax, have a hike around into the village of Lower Chatakpur, walk to the viewpoint or hire a car and visit nearby monasteries. And the entirety of Chatakpur is a plastic waste free zone.
The owners were very friendly and polite. Food was hearty and excellent, with most of the produce used being grown organically right on the hill, in small greenhouses.
But my favourite part was the clear night sky, little to no light pollution and the thousands of stars you could see with the naked eye.
Do hope to go back again sometime. The sooner the better
Location is at upper chatakpur near sunrise view point, awesome location, majestic Kanchenjunga is visible from the balcony. Rooms are average, food quantity is not sufficient, overall great choice for chatakpur.
This property is situated at a high altitude. Rooms are quite ok with great view of kanchenjungha. Service is fine. They offer huge quantity of food. Owner's behaviour is mind-blowing.
The Food is like eatablebut not tasty and the room is very small don't let any people to walk in the room.
Me and my friends stayed there on 1-2Feb 2025.
1. Location is on the upper Chatakpur, you'll get average network connection atleast and it has got Wi-Fi (though it's the only Wifi for the rest of the Homestay, you might not always get the connectivity but that's OK)
2. The room was so good, neat and clean and the washroom was clean too with a geyser facility.
3. Staff behaviour is so good and polite with tasty food.
4. The room had a good view of the mighty Kangchenjunga.
Overall it's a 5 star experience for us. Pictures posted.

Chatakpur is one of the most serene places around darjeeling. It is situated within Senchal Wildlife Santuary. If you are nature lover and wish to spend a day or two in laid back mood then Chatakpur is perfect place for you. It has limited number of residential accomodations and homestays among which Norbu Homestay is oldest one. If you plan to visit Chatakpur then try to book Norbu Homestay and tell them to book front side separate rooms. This stay provide beautiful view of Kanchenjunga from its courtyard and balcony. The viewpoint (sunrise point) is nearby and offers beautiful 360 degree view if the place.
It offers great food whichbis sufficient in amount and they take care of special requests of guests regarding food.
Behaviour of each person of the homestay is very cordial and humble.

i am stay here accidentally , i was booked prem homestay 4month before, but when i realized that they shifted my booking to norbu it was too late and i don't have any complained , bcoz god always do best for me, this place is oldest homestay in chatakpur. well behaved , good food. and If you want to start your day with a great view of sunrise not only over the majestic Kangchenjunga, but over the Sleeping Buddha range as well, Norbu homestay is one of the best.
