We stayed here for 3 days in the cottage room, and the service was top-notch. The food was equally good, and the owner was very friendly and accommodated all our requests, from offering a discount to customizing services like providing warm water in the morning and preparing chicken curry in Bengali style. The tea and onion pakoras were outstanding as evening snacks. Now, coming to the scope for improvement: the bed was not comfortable and should be replaced with a softer mattress, pillows could have been better as well, its too low and can cause neck pain or discomfort while sleeping. There was also water leakage from the roof (which the owner had already acknowledged), and it should be fixed, as it does not provide a good experience during the rainy season. Apart from these issues, it's a nice, cozy homestay near Lava Monastery with a beautiful view from the top floor.

I had a pleasant stay at Swagat Homestay in Lava August 2025 .The food was delicious, and the owners were extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. The rooms could use some minor electrical maintenance, but overall the stay was comfortable. One of the biggest advantages is that it’s an excellent choice for bikers. Secure bike parking is available, which is a huge plus for motorcycle travelers. The homestay is also very affordable, making it a great value for money. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly place with warm hospitality and convenient parking for your bike, I would definitely recommend Swagat Homestay.

It's a great place to stay. It was the best experience staying there. Location is very beautiful and close to Lava Monastry. This place is very well maintained and the Members of the homestay are very caring and well behaved in nature. We loved the ambience. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely want to visit this place again. Thank you Gopal ji & Sarika ji for being a nice host.

This budget-friendly homestay is conveniently located in the beginnig of the village, but closest to the entrance of the Neora Valley National Park which makes it a great base for early birdwatching tours (you have to get your permit in advance for the park office the previous day as they are not open that early). Also shared jeeps are passing right in front of the house to Kalimpong. The terrace offers great views in both directions. The roons have two thick blankets to keep you warm. The food is awesome! Amazing local organic forest vegetables and traditional homemade food cooked with a lot of love and served with a smile and second servings! Best of all is the family! They are such a sweet, kind, humble and sincere family with a 8 month old baby unicorn that never cries - it only smiles and chills! They take care of all your needs: from arranging transportation, guides and anything you need and didn't even think of (e.g. umbrella in the rain). Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at Swagat Homestay! The rooms were neat, clean, and very comfortable, making us feel completely at home. The homestay is beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and truly added to our experience. I am very happy to say that we just returned from Lava. We stayed at Lava Swagata Home Stay is a very good location and beautiful position. The rooms are very clean. I Honestly say that the property's Owner Sharika Mem and her husband Gopal's behaviour is awesome.

Our stay at Lava Swagat Homestay was absolutely wonderful! The food quality was exceptional — from the evening pakoras to the delicious chilli chicken at dinner, every dish was full of flavor and truly mouth-watering. The owner’s behavior was very polite and helpful throughout our stay. They made sure we were comfortable and assisted us with everything we needed. We stayed in the top-floor attic room, and it was simply beautiful! The view from the balcony was breathtaking — you can see the mountains clearly, especially in the morning. The room was neat, clean, and nicely decorated. Another big plus is the location — Lava Monastery is just a minute’s walk away, and there’s proper parking space available, so no worries about that. One small suggestion — it would be great if the rooms had a Wi-Fi connection. It would be really helpful for travelers who might want to work from such a peaceful place. Overall, we had a lovely experience here. Whenever I visit Lava again, I’ll definitely choose Swagat Homestay without a second thought!
