PaliGhar (Homestay/Farmstay) Kalimpong

Palighar is a perfect stay in Kalimpong if you want a calm and peaceful time for yourself. Me and my partner had an amazing time there. Kabir and Ahaana are very warm hosts and are always there to help you with everything you need- be it navigating the city, its culture, history, eating joints or just simply sitting and having conversations. Huge shout out to Sanjay- an amazing chef and a very pleasant person to be around.

PaliGhar is a great find if you want to escape the hustle of city life and truly unwind. The local style built mud cottages are beautiful, airy, clean, and offer beautiful views of the hills and farm. Hosts Kabir and Ahana are very warm and thoughtful, as are the other care takers. And the food? Absolute heaven! Chef Sanjay’s authentic local Nepali/Tibetan cuisine is fresh, soulful, and honestly unforgettable. We looked forward to every single meal. Whether you want to take a scenic village walk, read a book in the verandah or play with their extremely friendly dog Brownie, this place has it all. It is a great farmstay experience. Highly, recommended!

I had the fortunate opportunity of staying at PaliGhar during a recent northern India adventure. PaliGhar, a lovely farmstay run by Kabir and Ahana, is a beautiful and peaceful farm situated on the outside of Kalimpong. While it has only two room, they are well appointed and comfortable. Waking up in the morning to the lovely songs of the local birds was a delight enhanced by Kabir's first hand knowledge of the different species. The meals were delicious all highlighting local produce and recipes. In addition, we had many interesting conversations with Kabir and Ahana regarding the farm, history, and cultural aspects of the region. I highly recommend PaliGhar as the perfect place to unwind, make new friends, and enjoy nature in luxury.

Where else can you wake up early and find Kabir ready to take you at dawn (as the fog lifts to reveal the lower Himalayas) on a birding tour with a detour to see his farm family feeding cooked breakfast for thankful cows and happy goats? Well, his and Ahana's guests also get their own awesome breakfast in a bucolic moutain setting before heading out to see the local sites -- including drop-dead Himalayan views, including 3rd tallest mtn in the world in Nepal and awesome peaks in Tibet and Bhutan. This wonderful couple also cooked amazing farm-based dinners featuring local dishes while sharing their own life adventures from city life to the farm and decision to open PaliGhar -- in a most interesting Himalayan community that embraces Indian, Nepali, Bhutanese and Tibetan cultures. A very special place. Don't miss this experience in one of the most interesting places I've ever had the pleasure to visit.

We spent two months in India and PaliGhar was our favourite stay of the trip. The Kalimpong hills are beautiful and definitely worth the journey from Darjeeling, which feels much more touristy. We loved everything about PaliGhar (food, location, activities, Brownie the dog). Kabir and Ahana are also lovely people and were great to chat to during our stay. Would love to come back one day!

My recent visit to Palighar was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Kalimpong.The homestay is a little on the outskirts of the town ,makes for the most tranquil experience with a beautiful view .The services and food are first class.I had the most comfortable stay here ,big thanks to the hosts and the staffs.

The food was good and every effort was made to accommodate special requests. We did a couple of the escorted walks which we really enjoyed. The walk to Relli River and a picnic lunch was an amazing experience for all of us, especially the kids. The highlight for my son was Brownie the pet Dog at Palighar. A fabulous property and we had a wonderful time. Can't wait to get back.||One can spend the entire day relaxing and sun bathing in the beautiful sit out area gazing at the variety of flora and the hills nearby. They offer various hikes exploring the nearby villages, walking or drive to Relli river for a lovely experience followed by a picnic lunch. We had a wonderful stay. Such a beautiful, peaceful place, nourishing in every way. Kabir and Ahana were wonderful hosts. So thoughtful and caring. The food, lovingly prepared by Sanjay was endlessly delicious and beautifully presented, every meal different. The surrounding area is delightful with lovely quiet walks through paddy fields areas of forest and delightful villages. It was a happy time indeed.

I wanted to enjoy the experience to Relli river and Kabir instantly organised a beautiful trip to the Relli river side with a picnic lunch. — such a simple gesture, 🤌🏼 but it honestly became one of the best and most memorable experiences of my stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warm smiles and courteous service. Every member of the team was attentive, polite, and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout the stay. Their pet dog Brownie was so adorable and friendly and my son just loved spending time with him. The whole place has a warm, peaceful vibe that makes you feel comfortable instantly. Charming organic farm with two guest rooms outside Kalimpong run by Kabir & Ahana - well worth a visit!

Our recent stay at Palighar was a truly wholesome experience for us. Surrounded by nature and nurtured by two passionate hosts - Kabir and Ahana, Palighar is a slice of heaven tucked away from the bustle of the city. From delicious home cooked meals by their chef Sanjay to their adorable pet Brownie, everything seems to be in perfect harmony at this beautiful stay. Highly recommend it for travellers who enjoy a relaxed stay while appreciating nature and the beauty around!

Absolutely loved the experience here, great food, attentive staff, lovely rooms. The place is run with a lot of care and attention by the hosts. It is a 15 min drive from Kalimpong town and has beautiful scenic views of a valley.
