All these are glamorous photo shoots fasr from reality ...this is no hotel it is mere home stay situated above steep steps three rooms above a cafe .|Cheating guests asking per day 6500 Rupees per day ...do not fall into the trap .|We arrived here 4 days ago and were shocked to see this homestay touted as a hotel ...not worth more than rupees 2000/- per day .|Never pay advance check the property yourself before you book.|Guest BEWARE OF CHEATS

I visited The Oak Retreat with my family recently. The property is gorgeous with spectacular views of the Kanchanjunga on one side and a pine forest on the other side. It is located strategically offering quick access to Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Tiger hill etc. The staff is extremely polite and accomodative. The food is amazing. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a tranquil stay in the lap of nature.

I visited The Oak Retreat and had a lovely experience. The food was excellent — their pizza and sandwiches served with French fries were absolutely delicious. What made it even more special was enjoying the meal with a stunning view of Kanchenjunga right from the room.A perfect combination of great food and breathtaking scenery!

I went to this hotel with a friend and my mother and her mother. It is a great place if you want someplace that is quiet and offbeat. The rooms are medium sized but enough to comfortable accomodate at least 3 people. The washroom is clean and sanitary. The food is absolutely outstanding. We mainly had continental there. The pasta, steak and pizza are mouthwatering beyond imagination. The cafe downstairs is a very calm place to sit in the evening where you can do some work or talk amongst your friends group or just sit listening to some soft music in the background while seeing the dark forest in front of you. The service there was also very good. We got hot water when we wanted. Small changes in the last minute to orders were also accomodated within limits. The person who helped us throughout our stay was very respectful and helpful and efficient. The only think I found a bit weird is their Coffee One-shot which is in their cafe menu. It is overpriced for just 1/4 glass of coffee. But it isn't really a downside as you can just have coffee in your rooms. There are no creamers jn the room but if asked they will bring you hot milk. Over-all it was a wonderful experience to stay there. There are also some small shops and your can find beautiful items there. Would definitely like to visit again.

Simple room with most amenities you'll need for a short stay. Excellent food at Lamahatta Cafe downstairs - easily the best you'll have in Lamahatta and even better than most places we tried in Darj. Great staff, awesome food and a nice, clean room - what's not to like?

Excellent location (just opposite to Lamahatta Park) with Indian, Nepali Thali, oriental and all possible continental menus with taste comparable to any reputed caffe. English breakfast can challenge Flurys. Pizza, Pasta, grilled fish, fish and chips everything just awesome. Behaviour of our relationship manager Mr. Asish is excellent. It's a small caffe with 3 boutique rooms. We enjoyed guitar played by Ashish with song by us. Celebrated my wife's birthday with my family and Asish and his wife also joined as extended family. Highly recommend and I will surely come again with friends.

Very recently we stayed there on 24.04.2025. It was an excellent accommodation. From the roof top as well as from the room Eco Park is nicely visible. Hospitality, quality of food , interior decoration was up to the mark no doubt. Scenic beauty is excellent. |Sukumar Dutta

Our 3 day stay at Oak Retreat/Lamahata Cafe was an experience to treasure in our sojourn through the Himalayan foothills. Our clean, well laid out room, in this boutique retreat had perfect views of Kanchenjunga and the surrounding foothills. We planned this as a rest & chill stop on our itinerary and that is what it was to perfection. The food was varied and of great quality, with Indian, Nepalese, and Continental on offer. We ended up eating more than we should have, perhaps. Our hosts were genuine and hospitable and took good care by accompanying us on excellent walks through the tall forests and villages. Ashish, the manager, found the time in his busy schedule to accompany us on an informative walk through the village and tea gardens below the retreat, giving us a detailed history of the area and its flora and fauna. Overall, we could not have asked or expected more of our peaceful time in Lamahata with excellent food and service, a gourmet menu, along with exquisite nature walks and views.

This is my 2nd visit to the property. We, as a family really liked the rooms, they are clean, airy, cozy just like we needed. Washrooms are very clean and tidy, comes with required toiletries. The property is on the highway, but they do not have their own parking. You need to park your private car in some pay-parking, closest one is within 700 mtrs. Food menu here is a mixture of multi-national Quisines and really tastes good, is a must try.
