I visited this heritage bungalow recently with my family. We went in the last week of February, and based on my experience, I have mixed feelings on this place.
The rooms were clean, the place was well maintained, the bedsheets and towels were clean, the food was delicious, the view was serene and there were two very friendly dogs in the bungalow.
However, the service of the staff could have been better. Some of the food items that were mentioned in the list shared with us at the time booking were not given. Even they were reluctant to make coffee, and made us tea on the first day of our visit without taking our opinion. When we asked about those dishes, and showed them the list, they changed their approach and served us those dishes.
Overall, we liked the place, but we expected better.
Our two days visit to "Sai Hridayam" nestled in the bosom of the Takdah Hills of Darjeeling was truly a great experience. The breathtaking scenic beauty all around; the convenience and comfort offered to us during our stay in the remarkably tidy & cozy top floor bedrooms equipped with requisite basic amenities along with mouth-watering food cooked with love & homely goodness was indeed overwhelming! The enthusiasm of our hosts Bhagabati and her husband Sangam including their kith & kin who had come to celebrate the occasion of Dusherra together elevated us to moments of pure exhilaration making our visit unforgettable. It was an unprecedented experience that will stay with us for a long long time! Our only regret is that we mistimed our visit to "Sai Hridayam." We should have been there during the month of November to enjoy the idyllic view of the snow-capped mountains of the great Himalayas, more so from nearby Tilchuley and Lamhatta. We shall surely make amends the next time onwards! Nevertheless, "Sai Hridayam" fully deserves to be mentioned as a "Home away from Home" for one and all !!
