We had visited Ging tea house mid june . To start with the property was amazing, with a very vintage look. The rooms were very tastefully done up . One of the rooms that we were at was the Blue lady suite . It had an amazing view , with the misty skies outside , the beautiful upholstery and the feel of the room gave a very cozy , warm feeling . The staff were very courteous- a huge thanks to Mr Pranesh and his team . We had taken the Victorian package - so managed to have all three meals at the property. The food was great and nicely curated each day , with different flavours and different cuisine every single time . A huge thanks to Mr Kiran , who was kind enough to drive us around throughout our stay . Thanks to Mr Andrew for facilitating a comfortable and enjoyable stay at the property. Would definitely love to revisit this place .

What an absolutely terrible experience at Ging Tea Estate. This was the second time I arranged a stay here for my parents, who are senior citizens. Before their arrival, I had categorically informed Mr. Kaushik that I wanted them to experience the tea estate tour and tea plucking, and to ensure they had a comfortable and memorable stay. The same was communicated multiple times over email. Upon arrival, my parents were informed that the tea plucking timings were already over. When I contacted Mr. Kaushik, he was unable to explain why this crucial information had never been communicated to us beforehand. There was no accountability, no ownership, and no attempt to rectify the situation. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of initiative from the property manager, Mr. Andrew. At no point did he proactively offer an alternative solution, such as arranging an early morning tea plucking experience the next day or finding any meaningful way to compensate for the missed experience. We paid ₹21,000 for the stay, only for my parents to spend most of their time confined to the room, missing the very experience that was the primary reason for choosing this property. As someone who has spent the last seven years travelling extensively and staying at boutique hotels across the country, I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing hospitality experiences I have encountered. What stands out most is not the mistake itself, but the complete absence of remorse, accountability, or customer care from Mr. Kaushik and the team. I would not recommend this property to anyone seeking a thoughtful or guest-centric experience.

We visited GING Tea estate in last week of March … The moment we entered our Palace like rooms things would become magical …. late evening raining outside nd that victorian style rooms ….. property is excellent. Very gentle nd co operating in house staff to take care everything . Me Andrew allotted us the very two best suite of GING Tea House …. view from windows nd from garden was awesome …. Kanchanjangha mountains covered with snow nd clouds …. Morning breakfast setup in garden with crispy sunshine was magical …. roaming around tea gardens was beautiful experience. Evening snacks were delicious as well deserts during lunch nd dinner time but yes they can improve on food served in lunch nd dinner … it was that much tasty nd different what we expected….. Rest everything was perfect !!

There is the end of the earth… and then you go a little farther and arrive at Ging Tea House. That is honestly how it felt driving there from Sikkim. After weeks in the Himalayas, watching cars somehow squeeze past each other on impossibly narrow winding mountain roads, I’m still amazed that any vehicle in Darjeeling has any side mirrors left. And then suddenly, after another turn in the mist and tea-covered hillsides, Ging appears quietly in the distance like something from another century. We arrived anxious, tired, and overstimulated from travel. Within an hour, we had transformed into calm and peaceful versions of ourselves. The staff welcomed us with freshly brewed tea, warm smiles, and sweeping views over one of the oldest tea estates in Darjeeling. Our original plan was to spend a few minutes admiring the scenery before settling in. Instead, those few minutes turned into several hours of simply sitting quietly, drinking tea, breathing deeply, and watching the clouds move through the hills. The dining experience deserves special mention because it perfectly matched the pace and spirit of Ging itself. Meals were never rushed. Each dish arrived slowly and thoughtfully, course by course, encouraging conversation and stillness rather than urgency. In our modern world, meals often feel transactional. At Ging, dining felt timeless. Warm soups, fresh vegetables, beautifully prepared Indian dishes, tea fresh from the surrounding estate, and desserts served in a quiet dining room overlooking the hills somehow made time itself slow down. Andrew, the manager, and the entire team created the kind of hospitality that we remember long after the trip ends. Andrew checked in often with genuine care — not in an intrusive luxury-hotel way, but in the way a thoughtful host quietly ensures your peace is protected. He seamlessly arranged our transportation into Darjeeling, coordinated our airport transfer, and organized our tea factory visit without us ever needing to worry about logistics. One of the happiest moments during any long-term trip is getting our laundry done, and during our short stay at Ging, the team washed, dried, and beautifully folded our trekking clothes so we could continue the remainder of our India adventure refreshed and fully reset after weeks in the mountains. It may sound like a small detail, but after long Himalayan trekking days, it felt incredibly thoughtful and restorative. What makes Ging unique is that this is not simply a hotel near a tea plantation. You are living within a working tea estate with deep history and character. The tea factory gave us a new appreciation for Darjeeling tea entirely — from plucking to oxidation to sorting — and after seeing the process firsthand, every cup tasted more meaningful. There is authenticity here that cannot be manufactured. Some reviews mention the long winding drive, cooler temperatures, slower pace, or the property being somewhat removed from town. To us, those things were not negatives — they were precisely the point. Ging is not trying to be a fast luxury hotel optimized for efficiency and convenience. It is a place to exhale. And after weeks of trekking and travel, something remarkable happened here:for the first time in weeks, both of us recorded sleep scores above 90. That alone probably says more than anything else I could write. The silence, cool mountain air, calm rhythm, caring staff, and absence of hurry created a level of rest we did not realize we needed. In a world increasingly designed around speed, stimulation, notifications, and optimization, Ging Tea House feels like a quiet rebellion. We left feeling slower, calmer, lighter, and deeply grateful.

I am short of Superlatives to explain how good and memorable my tour was. Had been here on my Honeymoon in Jan 2026. Every penny was paid in advance and arrangement from pick up and drop to Airport was smooth. Beautiful colonial bungalow in the midst of the Ging Tea Estate located in Lebong district, 45 mins drive from Darjeeling Mall. If you prefer to enjoy Darjeeling, have dinner at Glenarys, sit late till night at the mall enjoying some hot coffee, Ging wont be suitable for you since its nested quite far and it is not safe to travel after sundown from Darjeeling. However if peace and tranquility is your calling with a breathtaking scenary and having the breakfast in the lawn surrounded by mountains then just close your eyes, burn your pocket and book Ging Tea Estate without any hesitation. Rooms are top notch, Food served is excellent, Staff is courteous , Scenary is breathtaking ...what else do you need? The only concern though which i feel the management should look into... since the resort is located in the midst of tea gardens and mountains with forests all over .... lack of security at night is something which was questionable. Some of the staffs rest at the Outhouse however there is also no intercom facility available at night in case of emergency. The management should look into this matter and keep 2 guards on the peril at night since there are also chances of leopards roaming about in the garden at night while you might be smoking a Classic enjoying the breathtaking view.

It was totally as expected! Beautifully made and maintained! Located amidst a tea estate (though the bushes were pruned so not that lush but I guess that depends on timing: better to confirm before booking) nevertheless so so picturesque! Service top notch, home cooked food absolutely delicious, fresh and clean. Quote and serene, the only sound is of birds and the air so fresh and crisp. And the secret ingredient there that earns them brownie points is their little dog snoopy who is the happiest dog ever and oh ever so excited for visitors❤️

I stayed five nights at Ging Tea House in March. It was a lovely experience. Details such as booking, payment, and transportation were easily arranged (do not take that for granted in India) and the hospitality of the staff was exceptional. I wanted a tea estate experience and that is exactly what I had. The house is an authentic tea planter's residence and feels like it. Meals were delicious and bountiful. It was pretty amazing to drink tea that I had seen being plucked two days previously. Highly recommended.

Me, Vasudhiti, my husband Jayasish and our son have just returned from a weekend stay in Ging Tea House. It was a heavenly experience. The property has every long lost colonial lavishness one can imagine of. We enjoyed the 1864 nostalgic charm along with very up to date modern comfort. The lawn opens up to a magnifique view of Kanchenjunga, if the weather permits...And the service of a great housekeeping team under the leadership of Andrew made us totally feel at home. Our heartfelt appreciation to Dipika, Sareena, Nikesh and others. |I would advise everybody to visit Ging to enjoy the splendour of nature, as well as to enjoy the glorious past recreated by fantastic planning and management.

CRIME/THEFT: I stayed here last week 19-21 March having booked a package that included the hotel and a dedicated driver service all arranged by and under the purview of Ging Tea House. My backpack containing my jewellery box with several valuable items was in my possession at all times except for when we stopped from the airport en route to the tea house to grab a bite to eat for lunch where it was left under the care of driver and when I was out of my room at the Tea House itself. The items went missing during this time when my possessions should have been safe and under the care of Ging Tea House. We informed management as soon as we became aware but had to ask several times to speak to the manager who seemed to be avoiding wanting to speak to us about this issue or taking urgent and necessary action. He only appeared after several requests right before we were due to leave. Central management/booking department has also been largely uncommunicative and have not dealt with this with the urgency and care it deserves. There has been little to no follow up and no one has returned my calls. I have reached out to Shilpi Tribewal who owns the Tea House and am awaiting a reply. I booked this trip thinking it was a reputable high-end stay in which our needs including the safety of our belongings would be a high priority but this has not been the case. I am so shocked that this happened. This has been an extremely upsetting situation as the theft involved items of sentimental as well as financial value.

We had an unfavorable experience, and therefore, we cannot recommend this establishment. We found everything to be excessive. We will not be returning, and we will also advise others against visiting this location. It was a complete waste of both money and time. NOT RECOMMEND !!!

Location & Atmosphere were just AWESOME.|Amid Lush Green Tea garden & tall trees.|With Clear view of the Snow capped Himalayas, Valleys, Namchi & Lamhatta.|Sun & Mist playing hide & seek.|Absolute calmness interrupted only by the sounds of the jungle and birds.|It feels as if You can hear the Nature speaking to You.||The colonial Cottage probably more than 100 yrs old is very tastefully decorator and gives One the feel of the Raj era.|Each room with its one fireplaces, the hallway, the dinning place and the lawn, everything is well curated and beautiful.||As for any place, one of the most important thing is it’s people, here to this amazing property is well maintained by the very efficient and responsive staff.|Be it Mr Andrew, it’s Manager or Mr Rishant, Mr Nikesh and others.|They are always concerned about your needs and ready to go that extra mile to support You.|The food here both in terms of its taste & its presentation was delicious & tempting.|The staff surprised us with a candle light dinner for us on our last night.

Friendly Victorian colonial style hotel The hotel is far from the centre, without a view of Mount Kanchenjunga, but in a pleasant location. Everything is included with transfers to and from Bagdogra, visits to Darjeeling and various activities. The booking policy is absurd. The reservations are made by a certain Kausik based in Kolkata. We cannot choose our room, as it would be normal, but we receive a code name (for example 'Victorian plan') and all the rooms are 'based on availability' until the second of our arrival. I insisted on being assigned the 'Blue Lady suite' which I had really liked during my previous stay, but the named Kausik was content with repeating 'based on availability' - 'based on availability', and as I insisted again, he proved to be unpleasant and disgracious, going so far as to write to me that the room would be assigned to someone else. Fortunately, the very friendly manager Mr. Andrew Andrens Lama was more accommodating. The rates are very high for this type of simple hotel, more than in some of the best hotels in Darjeeling. The two most interesting suites are the Blue Lady suite and the Royal Assam suite, with a similar layout with pleasant bow-windows equipped with a sofa bed overlooking the garden and the valley. The other rooms are blind or overlook the courtyard-parking. The welcome is very kind. The manager, Mr. Andrew Andrens Lama, a very pleasant person, was unfortunately absent this year, but his assistant, Mr. Nikesh, takes great pains to satisfy the hosts and ensures an excellent service. He perfectly organized my visits to Darjeeling. Mr. Rishant is a steward who is very polite and very attentive. Meals are poor to average depending on the day. The rooms are heated by small electric radiators, but there is no heating in the common areas (they refuse to put the chimneys into service and the candles are for "decoration", not for use) and, in the first part of November, I was very cold.

Ging Tea House । 🌿☕ 📍 Address – Ging Tea House Ging Tea Estate, Lebong Valley, Darjeeling, West Bengal – 734105, India #GingTeaHouse #DarjeelingStay #TeaEstateExperience #LuxuryInNature #HeritageStay #DarjeelingDiaries #MountainRetreat #TravelDarjeeling #TeaEstateLife #HiddenGemIndia
