The Five Pillars

Shelter

high confidence4.5 / 5
"Rooms are widely described as spacious, clean, cozy, and well-maintained, with heated mattresses provided for cold nights. A few minor complaints mention that the cottages require a bit of maintenance, toiletries are basic or missing, and one guest noted that a room heater was not available on demand."

Water

insufficient data confidence / 5
"There is no mention of hot water reliability, water supply, or plumbing in the reviews, other than general mentions of clean bathrooms."

Hearth

high confidence4.8 / 5
"Outstanding hospitality from the owners (Mr. Sam and family), manager Monisha, and the support staff. The food is highly praised as delicious, fresh, organic, and homely, with great vegetarian options. Only one highly negative review complained about unprofessional or commercial staff."

Path

medium confidence3.5 / 5
"Mixed feedback on access. One guest noted the connecting road is very inclined and challenging for drivers, and another complained of 'no proper road'. However, a more recent review highlights that the road now has a concrete topping and is very accessible. Additionally, reaching the cottages requires a 100-meter downward walk from the main building."

Steep inclined access road; 100m walk down to cottages.

View

high confidence5.0 / 5
"Spectacular and uninterrupted views of the Kanchenjunga range, pine forests, tea gardens, and distant Darjeeling lights directly visible from the rooms, balconies, and even beds."

We stayed there for only one day, but we wish to visit again. The place is truly wonderful—situated right amidst pine forests and tea gardens. We enjoyed a magnificent view from our balcony. We also met the resort owners; they were extremely warm and helpful. The staff were very cooperative as well. Our children were very happy there too. We will certainly visit this resort again.

Very well standard room with awesome service of all staffs. Food quality is excellent..The only problem is the connecting road which is very inclined- challenfing for driving enthusiast ..The cottage rooms require a bit maintenance and those are at the extreme downstairs of the property..But at the same time the serenity and beauty of the place is worthy..Mt Kanchanjhangha is visible from the property itself if weather permits

Pine Haven was a homestay basically but now offers all the comforts of a modern age hotel. It is good value for money and arguably the best place to stay for a couple of days in Lamahatta..... far from the maddening crowds and traffic congestion of Darjeeling

It was lovely and wonderful stay. The owner and his son were too good to have a chat with and they suggested us few locations which were mind blowing. Food was very tasty and simple home cooked food. Just a small suggestion that few more items can be added to the complimentary breakfast. Ultimately it was a nice stay and looking forward again to stay at this property.

We stayed in this resort for one night. Our room was 301 in the 2 nd floor with a balcony. The room was spacious, clean. So was the bathroom. The momo, the breakfast though not buffet was superb. Monisha is very responsive and efficient. I definitely recommend stay in Pine Haven. Points. 1. The road is now has a concrete topping and very much accessible. 2. Best is room no 302 as our balcony in room no 301 was partially shaded. So one can't stand in balcony during rain. All other balconies in the main building are fine in this regard. 3. From balcony one can see distant mountain and Kanchenjunga on a clear day. In night one can see lights of homes. 4. Ample parking facility. 5. One can book room no D2 which is a four beded spacious room with balcony beside the restaurant with tea garden view. 5. There are two other cottages a little downside, a little secluded.

We were looking for a quiet offbeat hill resort near Darjeeling and away from the crowd and it turned out to be the exact one. We opted for the cottages. Though its a 100mtrs downward walk from the main building but it was worth it. The rooms were spacious, beautifully maintained, and offered stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Waking up to the fresh mountain air and peaceful scenery was truly refreshing. The service at the resort was excellent. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help, which made the stay even more comfortable. Everything from the cleanliness of the rooms to the hospitality felt thoughtful and well-managed. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with great views, comfortable rooms, and genuinely good service, this resort is definitely worth a visit.

It is rare to find a property that strikes the perfect balance between comfort, scenery, and soul, but this place manages to do exactly that. We felt incredibly lucky to find a spot that offers the "total package": spacious and pristine rooms, breathtaking views, a peaceful environment, and delicious food.||Exceptional Hospitality|What truly defines this stay is the people. The owner, Mr. Sam, and his family are wonderful hosts—incredibly helpful and genuinely friendly. A special shout-out must go to Manisha, the manager; she is a ray of sunshine whose constant smile and charming personality made our stay feel extra special.||Food & Atmosphere|The kitchen serves up great meals, and we really thank them for accommodating special food requests (provided the weather and local supplies permitted). This isn't a place you visit for a "hustle-bustle" vacation; you come here to disconnect, breathe, and reset.||Adventures for the Soul|For those who enjoy a bit of a thrill, I highly recommend the hike to the 200-year-old Monastery. The trail leads you through a dense pine forest with a wonderfully eerie, atmospheric vibe that feels like stepping into another world.||A Quick Tip for Drivers|The only thing to be mindful of is the approach road from the main highway. While it has been white-topped recently by Mr. Sam in order to make it more car-friendly, the uphill drive remains a bit tricky and will definitely test your driving skills!!|||#HiddenGem #MountainRetreat #ExceptionalHospitality #OffbeatStay
