Had an amazing stay at The Best Himalaya Retreat, Kolakham! The location is stunning, with breathtaking mountain views and a peaceful natural atmosphere. The food was delicious, fresh, and felt just like a home-cooked meal. The staff were incredibly friendly, polite, and always willing to help, making our stay even more enjoyable. Another big advantage is that it's very close to the beautiful Changey Waterfall, making sightseeing easy. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with great hospitality. Will definitely visit again!
Mr Rawat is a wondeful and hardworking host. I felt he needed a good helper. Without Mr sehgal, the ex-owner, mr rawat is a little lost.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were warm, polite, and always ready to help, making us feel at home throughout our stay. The food was fresh, delicious, and homely, adding to the overall experience.

This is the closest homestay to Changey waterfall, which gives you the advantage of reaching the falls earlier than other tourists in the morning so that you can enjoy the trek to the falls in peace, without any crowd to ruin the view. The rooms & bathrooms of the homestay are very nice, but the best part of the property is the dining area & its rooftop seating area.
Though its ambiance was very natural but room which I was provided much damp, dark, insects inside room.
Food and hospitality is the worst

This place is very tranquil and nature lover's paradise . It's a must Visit place for Bird watchers.Mount Kanchanjunga can be seen here on a clear day.I will recommend atleast 2 nights stay in the premises. The Nursery here is an added attraction. The behaviour of the manager is very nice & Cooperative. Solar Light, hot water etc. available here. Road Condition in Neoravally is very Poor. This place gives real time for peace & introspection.

The overall experience was quite disappointing. The service and food were both below average, and the road leading to the property is in very poor condition. The homestay frequently faces electricity issues, which adds to the inconvenience. Additionally, the quality and quantity of the food were unsatisfactory. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place if you're looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
I stayed here for 2 nights with my family recently (13-15th March, 2026). It is a pretty decent homestay close to Changey Falls (Falls is around 1 km from the homestay). Property is very well maintained. I was very impressed with their circular kind of dining room (it has a small library) with small tables and multiple windows facing the mountains. The homestay has a small and nice garden adorned with some ornamental and flowering plants and a few garden chairs to enjoy the surroundings. We were able to see many species of birds. I think Kolakham is a bird lover's paradise. Food was homely although you don't have many choices here which is acceptable considering it is a remote location. Mr. Harshpal Singh Rawat, Estate Manger, is an extremely nice person. He and other staff took great care of us. If you want to enjoy a serene environment amidst nature you can surely come here and stay at the facility. Definitely you will like it. Highly recommended for families.

Please be careful before booking here. They accepted our money but later told us the road at night is not safe and suggested another hotel. After that they refused to return the advance payment.

The place itself is a tourist destination in and of itself. I've stayed in a lot of homestays, but I've never experienced a more intimate and homey atmosphere. This is the ideal location to witness the flawless fusion of natural beauty and human creation. Every nook and cranny tells a tale of a dream. For me, this homestay is the most memorable 👌. I will definitely return to Kolakham and remain there.
