Visited end of June, 2026. Bad experience. Rooms are good but not properly clean with smelly washroom. They don't clean after previous guests checkout. Most importantly, manager wanted payment at the time of evening tea only when we were to checkout the next day after 10 am, though only 50% was due. Lunch was late and without asking veg or nonveg they cooked nonveg in lunch which we didn't like. At night after requesting we got veg but stale dal and aluvaja were given in dinner. Not recommended for people over 40 years, lots of stairs to climb, mostly without railing. Staffs are doing their jobs very reluctantly. Overall very bad experience.
So beautiful and mesmerizing memories. Everything is sooo good 💯 fooding and service was too good. Nice place like peace of mind 🥰❣️
I'll try to write as honest as a review possible after 3 days and 2 nights of stay.
This homestay as 7 rooms in total and on an average there are 3 people staying in those 7 rooms. So in total 21 people stay at this homestay. The number of people to handle these 21 people? 3 in total, it's completely on their hands to cook, serve and also tend to any other problems that might arise during the stay. So it is not unexpected that the food quality, the service is not at all good. Don't get me wrong, the three guys we met, the ones who served us, they did everything in their power to make our stay comfortable, but it is just not possible in such an outnumbered ratio.
The first morning (actually the water ran out the night before) there was a problem of water, there was none. Now imagine, all boarders with no water for 7–8 hours straight. When the water crisis was solved finally around noon, they ran out of gas to cook. And many other small nuisances.
Now who's to blame for all this? Not the 3 guys who are actually providing the services but the owner. The owner of this homestay is clearly not concerned about the welfare of the boarders, all he cares about is money. The first proof is the fact that only 3 people are there to serve all the tourists, whereas in other homestays there are literally like 3 people to serve 3 rooms on an average. The second proof comes from the fact that when he gave us the number of a young guy who would take us sightseeing, we assumed that we'd pay the guy directly (as we have always done for like the past 15 years that we are going on vacations and tours, we always try to support the local people and businesses), and we did. But when we were about to check out, the owner added the car service money to our bill and forced the young guy to return the money that we already paid him. Now whoever made it this far in this review can guess that he was going to take a hefty cut out of the money and then give whatever is left to the guy. This infuriated us more than anything.
As already mentioned, the owner is one of the worst we've come across. Repeating, he does not care about the tourists nor the local people. And that was the nail in the coffin for us.
Not recommended at all.
Staff behaviour was good.Clean room. View from room is amazing.Food was delicious..
We stayed at ATC Samalbong Paharer Bari, Kalimpong on 28th December 2025, and the experience was disappointing.
Basic cleanliness was lacking. The geyser was of very low grade and barely functional. Towels provided were cheap nylon material, similar to items costing below ₹100, which is unacceptable for any resort.
Staff behavior was cheap-minded and unprofessional. There was no basic hospitality, politeness, or willingness to help guests.
Food quality was very poor and low-grade. Even while serving, the attitude was miserly and cheap-minded, making guests feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed.
Staff were not helpful regarding transport arrangements.
I request the associate staff, including the owner, to please refrain from calling me further to ask for changes to my reviews.
Awesome place and awesome services
I recently stayed at ATC Samalbong Paharer Bari, and it was an absolute delight! The homestay is nestled in the serene hills of Kalimpong, offering breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range. The rooms are cozy, clean, and equipped with modern amenities.
The hospitality is top-notch, with the owner going out of their way to make you feel at home. The food is delicious, with a variety of options to suit all tastes. I particularly enjoyed the BBQ facilities and the peaceful garden area.
The location is perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat, with plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding hills. The staff are friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile.
Highly recommend ATC Samalbong Paharer Bari for a relaxing and rejuvenating stay in Kalimpong!
Very nice place, well maintained room, fabulous food, awesome ambience and staffs are too good , very nice 5 out of 5
If you want to enjoy sunrise, sunset, spectacular view of the Mt. Kanchenjunga, necklace view of Kalimpong City, trail of river Teesta, wonderful hospitality of staffs, mouth watering 'Authentic Bengali Dishes' with serenity of nature in one frame; must visit ATC Paharer Bari, Samalbong.
Relaxing place to stay & the staff behaviour is good as well as the food was also delicious
It's a good homestay in affordable price but it's nearly at 3000 ft altitude so if you are looking for high altitude homestay it's not for you. The food was average the rooms were average it's more like a small hotel than a homestay and there is only 2 shops around upto 3km up and down so try to carry essentials with you
It's located in Raidhura. Rooms very nice, view grate, most beautiful things is testy bengali food...it's pet friendly homestay.
Good place to visit, nice food service and people are very helpful
The environment and weather here are really pleasant. Also, the food here is very delicious. The kinship between Manas Babu and Tapan da will impress you even more. And above all, the beautiful hilly scenery here will captivate you.
Just fatafati

Samalbong is a beautiful small village in the lap of green lushy mountains. It is a perfect place for a calm relaxing holiday. Atc Samalbong-Paharer Bari Homestay is the perfect place to enjoy the mountains as you can witness the amaizing view from every window of the Homestay. The food was very homely and tasty. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We spend an amaizing time there. Moreover, The famous kalimpong necklace viewpoint is right near the Homestay.
If you are visiting Samalbong, you should definitely stay here.
