We had a great and wonderful experience at this homestay. Anirban Lakshmi bhabhi and Ashok bhai were very helpful. The homestay has a wonderful view and the rooms are well maintained with all the amenities. I highly recommend this homestay. 👌

Very good

Samalbong is quite place sourranded by hills with unique view of kanchenjunga. This is a remote village of very few population. Ideal place for those who are looking for peace and calmness. This homestay is quite decent with limited facilities. But they are iger to satisfy their customers. Room condition is fair. Bathroom is good.

Location is excellent… view point is nearby .. warm and cordial behaviour of owner … enjoyed the stay .. home made food is good, but scope for further improvement. 👍.

A Home Away From Home in the Clouds ❤️ Samalbong Giri Himalayan Homestay was the highlight of our North Bengal trip. From the moment we arrived, we felt less like tourists and more like members of the family. The homestay is beautifully located amidst lush greenery, with clouds floating through the hills and breathtaking views all around. Watching the mist roll over the village from above felt like a scene straight out of a dream. The peaceful surroundings, chirping birds, and fresh mountain air made it the perfect place to slow down and reconnect with nature. Our room was spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The large windows on all sides brought the beauty of the hills right into the room, making every morning special. Waking up to the view of the greenery and clouds was an experience we will never forget. A special thanks to Madam of the homestay, whose warmth, care, and hospitality made our stay truly memorable. She looked after every detail with genuine affection and always ensured we were comfortable. Her welcoming nature made us feel completely at home. The food was another highlight. Every meal was fresh, delicious, and prepared with love. The homely taste and authentic flavors made us look forward to every breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are looking for a peaceful Himalayan retreat with stunning views, comfortable rooms, delicious food, and hosts who treat you like family, Samalbong Giri Himalayan Homestay is the perfect choice. After seeing so many good reviews I stayed there from 23rd to 26th May 2026 with my friends and family. Though the homestay offers a stunning view of Kanchenjunga, the Teesta River, and Relli Khola, the service provided by them was below the average. Every year I visit North Bengal and have stayed at many homestays, but I have never experienced such poor hospitality before. The main problem with the homestay is the lack of adequate staff. The owner manages the guests while his wife cooks, cleans, and takes care of the entire establishment. This is simply too much work for one person. As a result, the rooms and toilets were not cleaned properly. Dark-colored bedsheets may hide stains, but they cannot hide the foul smell. The trash bin placed in front of our room was never emptied during our stay. When we asked for an extra bedsheet, they brought us a used and unfolded one from another room’s bed . The food on the first night was terrible. It improved slightly later, but only after several complaints from our side. The owner, Mr. Ashoke Giri, came across as manipulative and greedy. We had arranged a sightseeing car from an outside source, but he tactfully got it cancelled and arranged another vehicle for us instead and the price was higher than our outside source . Shockingly, the replacement car did not even have working wipers, despite heavy rainfall during the trip. It was a horrifying experience. The water problem was terrible. We had to use water from the basin for taking bath as the flow from the regular tap was very low. The water flow was deliberately controlled by them. We had also booked our pick-up and drop service through the homestay, and the rate had been finalised a week earlier. However, at the time of our return, the owner demanded extra money for the same route. When we refused to pay more, he deliberately sent us via the Kalijhora road, which was in terrible condition, even though there was a much better route available through Loop Bridge. I know this is a homestay and we can’t expect hotel like services from them. They have their limitations. But they should provide the basic necessities. They are charging standard price. Overall, while the location and views are beautiful- poor hygiene, lack of professionalism and dishonest behavior completely ruined the experience.

1. Rooms are spacious and clean with view of kanchenjunga. The valley is serene and pristine. The necklace view of Kalimpong is a bonus part of this place. Amenities available are basic as of a homestay. The geyser was not working on our room but the owner facilitated us with immersion heater for hot water. 2. Food spread was impressive with local flavours which tasted great. Hospitality of the owner was warm and made all efforts to make our stay cosy and comfortable.
