The Sitatara Homestay

Iit would not be incorrect to call it a home away from home. I travelled solo and uncle aunty were very punctual,welcoming and amazing homemade breakfast. Well connnected and spacious rooms. Just a full size mirror would have been more great rest very clean and nice homestay.

Highly Recommended! Beautiful property and lovely hosts. My wife and I had a wonderful vacation here. The property is exceptionally clean, with excellent, well-maintained room interiors. If the weather permits, you get a beautiful view of Mount Kanchenjunga. The location is perfect—just a short, manageable walk up the stairs and you are right by Keventers on Mall Road. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. The staff are incredibly humble, simple, and always wearing a sweet smile. They also serve a delicious, healthy breakfast that changes every day, complete with refreshing Darjeeling tea. A few minor things to keep in mind: There is no dedicated parking space at the property, and the rooms do not have fans or AC. However, considering Darjeeling's lovely, cool weather year-round, the lack of AC/fans wasn't an issue at all for us. If you are looking for a comfortable, peaceful vacation in Darjeeling, I strongly recommend Sitarara. We would love to visit again!

Had a wonderful experience at Sitatara ❤️ Right from the booking call, Soden mam sounded very genuine. She even connected us with a very good driver who took us to Tiger Hill at a much cheaper price. Location is also good, very close to Mall Road. The rooms offer nice views to Kanchenjunga - if you are lucky with the weather. Uncle who manages the stay is also very kind and helpful. He made sure our stay was homely and warm. Just a note - the location might feel confusing at the beginning, bcoz Darjeeling Mall road actually has multiple roads at the same place. So there are 2 roads to the Homestay - one which is a stair case walk which opens directly at Mall Road. You can directly walk here for shopping, cafes. Other is close to Hotel Dil - it is much easier to take our luggage trolleys here and car can pick up (cars are not allowed to wait for long time) as it is a very busy hilly road Overall I wouldn't think twice about staying at Sitatara if I visit Darjeeling again :)

Stayed at The Sitatara Homestay for 3 nights and it was a good decision! Centrally located just minutes from Chowrasta and the Mall Road, we could easily stroll to shops, cafes and everything around without any hassle. The views from our room were breathtaking— waking up to the Kanchenjunga view right from our room felt magical. Rooms were spotlessly clean, cozy, and super comfortable and warm. They provided us with hot water bag, which kept us even warmer. What truly made it special were the hosts—warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive, sharing local tips and even arranging a vehicle when ours didn't turn up. Felt like family! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Darjeeling. We'll definitely be back!

I stayed here with my family, total 5 people on 2nd floor. Rooms were clean a spacious. Good View of Kanchenjunga through the window. Walkable distance to Mall Road. Since 5 people, we requested for 5 hot bags as room heater was not there inside the rooms. So they said only 4 are there. The bed for the 5th person is so narrow it’s difficult to sleep. We just wanted to provide polite feedback. Uncle mentioned our feedback is of no use and they have the best service as foreigners are also coming to there property. He went on to say that we should not have taken my mother and aunt since they are old and cannot bare the cold. My mother and aunt travelled to Kashmir last month and we got such great hospitality in small home stays. We never complained about the stairs as we knew there were stairs. He said we complained from the very first. He also mentioned that they are polite people as they are govt. employee and we are ill-mannered. He told us that we should not visit them again. Behaviour is not good.

Uncle and aunty of sitatara homestay has behave with my mother very rudely .. In the month of January I have travelled with my 70 years old mother in Darjeeling.. as she is used to travelled lot through out india and abroad ... Because non availability of room heater .. my mother asked for one extra hot bag .. which they denied ... And when we give this feedback .. they confronted us like anything and told .."please do not come again " ... What a embarassing behaviour we have faced ... As Darjeeling is in our heart as a Bengali .. we are really very disappointed with this behaviour

The place is a 10/10 both in terms of living and the location. The stay is some stairs away from the mall road. The hospitality is amazing. Definitely a place worth it's stay!

We had such a lovely stay! Uncle, Aunty, and Soden provided amazing hospitality and truly made us feel at home. We enjoyed every bit of our time there, especially the stunning view from the balcony and the delicious breakfast every morning. It was a perfect experience overall!

Best Rooms you can ask for. We could see Kanchanjunga from Balcony crystal clear. They have shown absolutely best hospitality. Breakfast to Hot water, whatever we needed, they have provided. The location is a 2mints stairs away to Keventers. It's at the centre of Mall road. Hands down the best Homestay you can ever ask for, in Darjeeling.

The place feels like home. It’s very well maintained and aunty uncle are very caring. It’s just 1 minute walk from keventers and the building has a lift. Overall, an amazing stay!!

Contacted directly to the owner, booked for 3days and paid an advance booking for 1day. Being a homestay atleast the host should have mentioned at the very first of the booking that it’s kind of a basement with no proper windows which consist of 3rooms with a common /sharing dining and kitchen area which is not ideal for privacy. Each room is being booked by different people/parties. The host was very rude and not at all helpful when we tried to ask for atleast 1 day of accommodation since we have already paid one day advance. we decided to stay for 1day and will shift to another hotel the very next day but the owner/host simply denied for allowing us to stay for first day and asked only if we are staying for 3 days then only they will allow us to stay. They misguided/fraud with the fact of homestay and also denied to refund the advance.

Stayed there for two days... Enjoyed every moment... Clean, well furnished bedroom with a common living room and a dining space. Our hosts were always ready to offer any assistance with smiling faces. Located at a distance of only about 300 mtrs from Mall. Taxi stand, Glenary's and Keventer's are also easily accessible.

Simply felt like a home away from home. Started off with a wonderful check-in experience. They were always available for any help we required and always fulfilled all our requests. The food was great and had variety. The place is also at a great location at the heart of Mall,so be it hiring cabs for local sight seeing or restaurants , it was always at finger tips. It’s opposite to the iconic Keventer’s hotel and close to Glenary’s. Overall we had a great experience.
