Niharika is an absolute gem of a heritage homestay that seamlessly blends old-world charm with modern comforts. Perched atop a serene hillock, it offers stunning views, and it is an ideal retreat for families and seniors. The hostess, Rita, along with the caregivers, goes above and beyond to ensure our every need is met. The villa is pet-friendly. One is never short of pleasant surprises like cakes or cookies that appear out of thin air. Niharika is kept impeccably clean, and the spacious rooms with fireplaces and antique interiors are a treat for even the most fastidious of travellers. Breakfast is a sumptuous spread featuring local produce and amazing custom meals. Definitely value for money and a wonderful place to make some unforgettable memories.

A beautiful property where we felt at home throughout the day. The sweetest part was Ms Prasad, the owner, came visiting on the last night with a home baked cake. Perfect for 3-4 families.

We stayed at Niharika Old place in kalimpong in June 2025. The bungalow is nice and the food and services were very good. Caretaker Prabin and Bunty were very helpful and were very proactive. The Chef sudip is very talented and provided us with excellent food and pleasantly customised it as per our liking. We even met Ms Rita is also very sweet and courteous and gave us a surprise cake that was a good gesture. As as suggestion understand it's a heritage bungalow but the bathroom fittings can be made slightly better as they look very old and not very likeable from a guest point of view specially in the ground floor. Also there were many insects which enter the room so just a suggestion they can install nets if possible so we can keep the windows open specially during monsoons as they enter the rooms and the bedspread had lots of insects. Overall we had a pleasant stay.. also we expected there would be some view from the bungalow but we couldn't see much.

One of the best luxury heritage homestays of West Bengal. Outstanding maintenance, fantastic service by an extremely courteous care taker and his support staff, best possible location, fantastic rooms, washrooms, living area etc...everything about Niharika is picture perfect. Also sincerely appreciate the owner's love for pets to make such a heritage property pet friendly. Since this is a heritage property will advice all visiting this place with pets to ensure that their pet is well trained especially toilet trained. Such a property with antique wooden interiors might get spoiled if pet is not well trained and disciplined. Food is also very good and plenty of choices available. Strongly recommended for visit....we will visit again.

It was an incredible experience to stay at a place like Niharika, where foreign delegates and political asylum seekers lived over a century ago. The property has been meticulously restored to blend the comforts of modern living with the charm of its historic architecture and craftsmanship. The vast surrounding areas and beautiful landscape make it a perfect spot for outdoor dining, while the kids had plenty of space to play. Our holiday was made even more special as three generations of our family came together to create cherished memories. Rita, the owner, is exceptionally kind and thoughtful. She sent us a delicious home-baked cake and some mouthwatering home-cooked dahi-vada, adding a personal touch to our stay. Despite living some distance away, she made it a point to visit us, which we truly appreciated. What made our time at Niharika even more enjoyable was the flexibility to request tea, snacks, lunch, or dinner at any time as per our preferences. It was such a delight to have a real family gathering in a setting so far from home yet so warm and welcoming. A truly memorable experience!

A wonderful place to spend a few idyllic days.Somewhere to just wind down with friends and family.Spacious, clean and homely rooms. We were a group of 5 and were welcomed with apnahi ghar samjhiye(think of it as your home)Praveen, the caretaker, was very helpful in whatever we needed and was awake till whenever we were done with dinner at night, going through the trouble to reheat the food for us which Sudip made in the restaurant.Sudip prepared an extremely sumptuous breakfast for us in the mornings.I would specifically recommend the veggies that he sauted for us. Praveen, thank you for the endless cups of that extremely good coffee that u made, whenever we asked for it.And the wood that was supplied for the fireplace to keep us warm. Extremely clean and fresh bed linen made the nights very comfortable. The washrooms were sparklingly clean. Mrs.Prasad, thank you for the cake and the coffee that you got for us even though it was in short supply. Niharika, looking forward to another visit.

We stayed at Niharika, The Old Place for just two nights in mid November but could have stayed six months it is so wonderful. When the taxi drove us up the drive to the beautiful villa constructed in about 1926 we couldn’t believe what we had booked. It’s an absolutely fantastic house of immense character and charm. The architect who designed the house really knew how to create a place for stylish living in a different age. From the high ceilings to the smooth concrete floors and the many French doors leading to interesting Little balconies and terraces. The house is located above the main town and the terrace overlooks spectacular scenery of the Rolling Hills of the low Himalayas. I’ve stayed at many Airbnb places, but this comes as close to Perfect a place as ever I stayed in. A quick mention also for Rita a charming hostess in every way and the caretaker Praveen who is on call at all times had supplied with breakfasts, evening meals and coffees and made us feel thoroughly welcome
