This is a very beautiful village in West Bengal. The place is very quiet and peaceful. If you want to enjoy nature and stay away from city noise, you will like this place. But one thing — you need to be careful while talking to local people. Many of them have strong personalities and big egos, so don’t talk too directly or argue with them. Just speak politely and respectfully. Also, some people here are known for hunting animals. If you are very sensitive about animals, you may feel uncomfortable visiting this place. Overall, the village is beautiful and peaceful, but you should be aware of these things before going.

I recently stayed at a homestay in Sillery Gaon, located at the heart of the village. The property has multiple rooms, giving it more of a hotel-like feel. My room was small, with minimal amenities, but it did have a geyser, which is essential for a hill stay. The room shared a common balcony, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, which was definitely the highlight of my stay. Unfortunately, the room wasn’t as clean as I had hoped. The bedsheets had visible spots and even some hairs, which made the experience less than comfortable. The overall vibe of the room felt rather gloomy, lacking the warmth and charm one might expect in a cozy homestay. The staff was not very well-trained, which reflected in the service. However, the homemade food was a saving grace—it was delicious, with a standard menu that never failed to satisfy. There’s also an open space for a bonfire, which added a nice touch to the evening, allowing for a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Overall, while the views and food were great, the cleanliness and staff training need improvement. It’s a decent option for those who prioritize location and homemade meals, but don’t expect a polished experience.
