Pradhan Niwas Homestay..... We stayed at Pradhan Niwas Homestay from 6th to 9th June and unfortunately our experience was far below our expectations. Before booking, homestay owner Kalpana Pradhan was very responsive and polite. She frequently contacted us and promoted the Kanchenjunga-view room, which was one of the main reasons we chose this property. However, the reality was quite different from what was presented. The location is much lower downhill than it appears. Guests need to walk down a steep slope to reach the property, which may be difficult for elderly people or anyone with mobility issues. The room was extremely small and felt congested even for two people. The room, bedding, and overall environment felt damp, and cleanliness was not up to standard. The bathroom was not properly cleaned, and there were insects inside the room throughout our stay. We encountered multiple bugs and even large spiders, which made us uncomfortable. The breakfast provided was also disappointing. On one occasion, the food seemed underprepared, and what concerned us most was finding pet hair in the sandwiches that were served. The blankets and bedsheets were also covered with pet hair and did not appear to have been washed properly. Another major issue was the lack of service. There were no staff members available, and one elderly lady appeared to be managing the entire homestay alone. If we needed something as basic as drinking water, we often had to go and collect it ourselves because no assistance was available. The only positive aspect of Pradhan Niwas Homestay is the potential Kanchenjunga view. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, we could not enjoy that view during our stay, so it did not make up for the other shortcomings. Overall, while Kalpana Pradhan was courteous during the booking process, the cleanliness issues, insects in the room, pet hair in both food and bedding, lack of staff support, and the difficult location made our stay uncomfortable. Pros: Potential Kanchenjunga view, polite owner. Cons: Poor cleanliness, insects in room, pet hair in food and bedding, steep downhill location, lack of staff/service, small damp rooms. I would not recommend Pradhan Niwas Homestay and would not choose to stay here again.

The guesthouse is conveniently located beside Raj Bhavan in Darjeeling, along Observatory Hill Road. Most major tourist attractions, including Mall Road, are just a 3–4 minute walk away, which made getting around extremely easy. While the room quality was not very high and felt a bit cold (likely due to the weather), the hospitality more than made up for it. Mrs. Kalpana Pradhan was incredibly warm and welcoming throughout our stay. We stayed for 5 nights and were treated to a lovely breakfast every morning, along with evening tea. Dinner is also available on request, we tried the Nepali veg thali twice, and it was delicious. As a thoughtful gesture, Mrs. Kalpana Pradhan even gave us a small gift when we were leaving, which made our stay even more memorable.

It was our first time in Darjeeling, and we had a wonderful stay at Pradhan Nivas. The rooms are very clean and available at an affordable price. The view of Kanchanjunga from the room is absolutely beautiful. Even though it was our first visit and we reached very late at night due to our delayed train, Aunty herself came to pick us up in the cold weather. She warmly welcomed us and served us hot dinner with so much love. The breakfast and tea prepared by Aunty are truly delicious. She is very caring and loving, just like a mother. She also gave us Durga Maa’s tika and prasad before we left, which made our stay even more special. Thank you, Aunty, for your unconditional love and hospitality. Highly recommended! 💛 Always keep smiling and stay healthy my cute aunty love you so so much 😊😘🥰 We miss you tea and breakfast 🥞🥺

Our stay at Pradhan Niwas in Darjeeling wasn't just a getaway—it wrapped us in the embrace of home, stirring emotions we didn't expect to feel so deeply. For those magical two days, the host showered us with a mother's boundless warmth, care, and affection, making our hearts swell with gratitude. Every meal she cooked and served brimmed with love: authentic Nepali delights like sarso ka saag, mushroom sabzi, and spicy achar that tasted like childhood comfort on a plate. Breakfast was pure bliss with organic morning tea, fluffy lachha paratha, and the irresistible sell roti—each bite melting away the chill of a Darjeeling dawn and filling us with joy.Waking to the breathtaking majesty of Kanchenjunga framing our room window felt like a divine gift, a moment etched forever in our souls. As freezing evenings descended, the free bonfire became our sanctuary, drawing us closer in its glowing warmth, melting away worries and filling us with cozy relaxation and profound thankfulness. The homestay thoughtfully offers every modern comfort—bed heaters, geysers, reliable Wi-Fi, hot drinking water, and even a TV on the Kanchenjunga-facing common balcony—yet it's the love that lingers most.Pradhan Niwas isn't a homestay; it's a heartfelt home pulsing with love and tenderness. Leaving tore at our hearts, with tears blurring the stunning views—we couldn't bear to say goodbye. We'll return, drawn back by this irreplaceable magic. Highly, highly recommended for every Darjeeling dreamer. 🌄❤️

I recently stayed at Pradhan Niwas Homestay, and my experience was excellent! The owner’s behavior was truly wonderful—very caring, polite, and friendly. The breakfast was delicious, and the overall hospitality made me feel completely at home. The homestay is just about a 5–7 minute walk from Mall Road, which is very convenient. I chose the view room, and from there I could clearly see the majestic Kanchenjunga. Both the room and the bathroom were neat and clean. The owner even offered me authentic Darjeeling tea leaves, and I made tea using them—it was extremely tasty and refreshing! Drinking water and all other amenities were available, and everything worked perfectly, including hot water and the 24-hour geyser. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a comfortable and homely place to stay near Mall Road. It’s simply the best!
